For the girls. Margaret
Doherly won three events and
look second in another. She
was first In the loo-meler dash
in 12.9. the 200-meter dash in
27.8, the 400 meters In 63.3 and
second in the Ions jump with a
leap of lO". Michelle La Rue
was second in the discus with
a throw of 75'4'j". third In the
javelin with a throw of 76'f
and fifth in the shot put with a
throw of 24'4",
This was the last Tuesday
meet for the Cards as they will
be competins In the district
meet at Umatilla this Friday
and Saturday. Competitors
who place first or second in
each event will qualify for the
state meet on May 15 and 16 at
Lewis and Clark College.
Fillies rack up 89 points to win meet
The Heppner Girls Track
team turned in a "real fine
effort" Tuesday. April 211. to
win a five-way meet with
Condon. lone, Ukiah and Pilot
Rock at Heppner,
The Fillies racked up Bt
total points to take the meet,
with second place Condon
scoring only 44.
"It was a real fine effort."
said track Couch Dale Conk
lin. "We had good effort from
everylxidy and a real fine
win."
Mary Kincaid of Heppner
showed herself lo one of the
premier performers for Hep
pner, taking first in the shot
put. l.r(Mi meters and the
loo-meter high hurdles.
Marge Kincaid also did well
tuking first in the high jump
and the .'too meter low hurdles.
Kelly Hammond also nailed
down two first place finishes,
one in the discus and one in the
Javelin throw.
The Heppner relay team
also took first place in the
ltWMi-meler relay.

On Saturday. May 2. the
Fillies competed at the Uma
tilla Invitational at Umatilla,
and Kelly Hammond turned In ,
a fine performance, taking
first in Ihe javelin, third in the
discus and fifth In the 400-met
er run. She was also part of the
Heppner relay team which
took fifth in the 400-meter
relay.
Other Heppner performan
ces included sixth in the high
jump and fourth in the long
jump for Mary Kincaid. and
fourth In the 100 meter high
hurdles for Margaret Kincaid.
Mary's performance of 15'
1" in the long jump prompted
coach Conklin to congrat
ulate her. "This is the first
time this year she has gone
that far and she did a pretty
good job."
This Friday and Saturday
the Fillies go to Umatilla for
the district track meet. First
and second places from this
meet will go on to the state
track meet
The Heppner boys' track
team took fourth place in a
five-way meet April 28 in
Heppner,
