Mary Ann Ccrullo
This week, "CloHe to Home" In doubling as an Idea
Exchange Column.
Since this is the first Idea Exchange of riiany (I hope), I
aked gome of my co-workers here at the G T to share some
of their household hints. I even threw in one of my own.
Here's what I came up with ;
A friend of mine gave me fresh cream straight from her
cow. 1 tried and tried to whip it for dessert but it Just sa't
there. It wasn't until I added a couple drops of lemon Juice
that I was able to whip up the cream Just right - Norma
Bessey.
I've been doing this with good results - Sometimes 1 want to
put a plant into a hanging basket, but the pol has holes in the
bottom for watering. So, I Just snip off the corner of a
garbage bag and fit It over the bottom of the pot to protect the
basket - Patti Allstott.
It's almost painting season again.,. To prevent splattering
hinges or knobs when painting a door, rub a little petroleum
Jelly on them first. Stray paint will come off easily - Mary
Ann Cerullo.
To keep your cut flowers fresh looking longer, add two or
three drops of ammonia to the vase water. - Eileen Saling.
Do you have any ideas that may be helpful around the
house or yard? "Close to Home" welcomes any
contributions. , . ,,. ,.
Drop your ideas by the O-T office or write to:
