lone Clean-up in full swing
This weekend, April 10. and
11 marks the final days of the
community-wide effort to
clean up lone.
, Members of the local Gar
, den cl'ih and the other
sponsoring organizations urge
everyone to help beautify the
city by Retting out and helping
pick up and clean up.
A volunteer crew will be out
this weekend to help haul
away those over-sized items
that . the city crew can not
usually collect, old washers,
refrigerators, etc. You can
make arrangements to have
these items picked up by
calling either 422-7142 or
422-7181.
For all of the lawn clippings,
and garbage bags of accumu
lated debris that you have
around your yard, everyone is
urged to have them set out
early Friday morning, and the
crews will be around.
4-H Horse
Members'
workshop
registration
April 20
Lectures, seminars, labora
tory sessions and field trips
are all scheduled as part of the
1981 Oregon 4-H Horse Mem
bers Workshop at Oregon
State University June 15 - 20.
according to John Nordheim.
Morrow County Extension
agent.
The workshop will be held at
the same time as 4-H Summer
Week on the Corvallis cam
pus. However, 4-H members
and leaders attending the
workshop will be housed
together and follow a separate
progjam, Nordheim explains.
The horse workshop is
sponsored by the OSU Exten
sion Service in cooperation
withthe departments of anim
mal science and crop science
and the new School of Veter
inary Medicine.
The program is designed to
give 4-H members and leaders
a greater understanding of
horse management, nutrition
and animal health which they
can share with others in the
county, points out Duane
Johnson, Extension acting
state 4-H program leader. The
workshop will give young
people a look at career
possibilities as well.
Up to 80 4-H members and 10
leaders may attend the work
shop which costs $90 per
person. The 4-H members
must be sophomores, juniors,
or seniors in high school.
Persons interested in atten
ding must have their applica
tions in the county Extension
office by April 20.
Coordinator of the horse
members' workship is Nancy
Berg, 4-H leader from Albany,
who is working with the OSU
faculty in arranging the pro
gram. Additional information
about the program, as well as
application forms, are avail
able at the county office of the
Extension Service in Heppner,
or by calling 676-9642.
Roller rink
managers
to continue
till June 22
Rollerrink managers Bill
and Connie Ford of Pendleton,
have reinstated their agree
ment to continue running the
roller skating rink at the
Morrow County Fairgrounds
in Heppner until June 22, it
was announced recently.
Skating is held on Saturday
evenings from 6:30 to 10:30
p.m. with two sessions. There
will be no skating during
Junior Rodeo June 5 - 7.
Also Fairgrounds have pos
ted signs for 'no overnight
parking unless permission has
been granted. These signs do
not apply during rodeos or
fair. The caretaker says that
many vehicles have been left
parked overnight and that he
has been locking gates every
night, as part of his job. Call
for information at 676-5159.
Please remember that with
the wind blowing, you'll want
to be sure that your pile of
collectahles doesn't get a head
start on the pick-up crew.
