makes Seaside trip

on March 2f.
The group stayed at The
Carroll Manner Motel. (We
raised the money to go that
far)..,.
Five lone High students
went along: Teena Lindstrom.
Troy Lindstrom, Roger Chil
ders, Duane Felseh, and
Robin Ball, accompanied by
the Rev, Cathy Barker,
Teena commented "I had
fun. It was nice to get away
from everyone, to be around
good friends. 1 loved The
Dalles " Troy added "I had
fun. The water , was cold "
Rogers agreed, saying, "I had
fun " "It was a blast It was
good to clear my mind on the'
Ix'ach. Nice to have friends
around to talk to and to see
unexpected people from lone.
"It was nice to find out I was
going to college," commented
Roger, Robin felt "It was nice
lo get away from family for
Darcene Meyers to lead
lone in CF fund
awhile.
"The lime we had together
as a group without a lime limit
was great." said the Reverend
Barker. I was impressed with
the way the group made the
rules and followed them. I was
also impressed by the way the
group worked together plan
ning and fixing the meals."
"I hope lo have as much fun
next year with the group on
our adventurous trip."
The group departed from
Seaside on March 27 and
headed for The Dalles. They
stayed the night with The
Dalles Sr, High Youth group
and left for lone on Sat..

"We would like to give
special thanks lo Mr. and Mrs.
Keith Rea for the use of their
car," said a group spokesper
son. "We would also like to give
thanks to the people who
helped us raise money for the
trip
"We also missed Michelle
I .a Hue and Craig Rea on the
trip "
Darcene Meyers has beri
appointed lo lead local volun
teers in organizing a cystic
fibrosis fund raising event in
lone, according to Charles
Dibert, president of Ihe Ore
gon chapter of the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation. In an
nouncing the chairmanship of
this event. Mr. Iiitx-rt said.
"We hope many residents of
lone will volunteer their time
and talent to this worthwhile
project. Cystic fibrosis is ibe
number one genetic killer in
our country today, and these
children need our help."
One in every 1.8(H) American
children inherits this incur
able disease when they re
ceived a gene for CF from
each of their parents. It is
estimated that one out of
every 20 Americans is a
nytnptomless and unknowing
carrier of the gene which can
cause CF in their child
Through research funded by
raiser
the Cystic Fibrosis Founda
tion, a test to identify carriers
is Inking sought and scientists
are pursuing a cure or control
for cystic fibrosis.
The local event will help
support these research pro
grains, as well as medical
care presently provided at 12H
cystic fibrosis centers located
throughout Ihe t'niled States,
These CF centers specialize in
the diagnosis and care of
children with DF, In Oregon
there is one CF center titrated
at the I 'Diversity of Oregon
Health Science Center in
Portland,
