The Heppner Mustangs have been practicing for two weeks now and will meet the Riverside Pirates on their diamond, this Friday. March 20. The Mustangs will not have a junior varsity team this year due to a lack of turn-out. This will indeed hurt the team for real tough. Barber's team captures season championship Don Barber's team captur ed the Heppner men's city league basketball regular sea son championship Sunday night by defeating Rick Johns ton's team 66-56. La Verne Van Marter scored 12 points and Tom Weatherill chipped in 11 to lead Barber's team. For Johnston's team. Gary Watkins pumped in 19 points. Ron Bowman had 13. and Gary Van Arsdale 12. In other games. Dave Al lstott's team blasted Dick Devin's team 73-42. Brent Eggers' team ripped Les Schwab 87-51. and lone dump ed Forest Service 61-37. Plans were discussed for the Spaghetti Supper und card party to bo held at the grarlge hall on Saturday March 21. The spaghetti supper starting at 6 p.m. will consist of the main dish.
