Timber is a largo part of the
total resource base in Morrow
County. Managing this re
source is an important under
taking. The Oregon State
Department of Forestry
assists land owners in manag
ing their timber resources
through timber management
plans. This year the State
Forestry Dept. has developed
a timber management plan
for one landowner for a total of
848 acres.
Precommercial thinning is
one forest management prac
tice used to increase wood
fiber and forage production.
Morrow County's Agricultural
Conservation Program has
provided an incentive to four
landowners to do precommer
cial thinning for a total of 4fi
acres and for one landowner to
plant tree seedlings on four
teen acres.
