It's a happy
birthday party
"Happy Birthday New
Year."
It's a birthday party - for
everyone, on Tuesday, Jan. 6,
at 6:45 p.m. at the Degree of
Honor Hall in Heppner.
The party, sponsored by
Women's Aglow, and catered
by the Carnation Club, will
feature a salad bar and, of
course, birthday cake. Special
feature is "Cake Cut-Ups," by
Velma Felt. Special music will
be by a mixed trio. Speaker
for the evening will be Ethel
Bagwell of Pendleton.
Cost for the evening will be
$3.25. For reservations, call

babysitting reservations, call
Joyce Hughes, 989-8412.
Burning of
the Greens
January 6
The lone Burning of the
Greens will be held on
Epiphany, Tuesday, January
6, at 2:30 p.m. at Rietmann's
lot, next to the Post Office at
, lone.
The annual event, sponsored
by the lone Garden Club, is a
way to "dispose of Christmas
greens in an honorable fash
ion," said Jean Nelson, lone
Garden Club member.
lone area residents are
asked to bring their Christmas
trees and greens to the lot by
Monday, Jan. 5, preferably, or
have the greenery in their
parking areas by Monday,
Jan. 5 for pickup by Eldon
Tucker.
Everyone is invited to
attend. Mrs. Nelson says that
lone school children of the
lower grades will be attend
ing, and that carols will be
sung and refreshments of
cocoa and cupcakes will be
served.
lone Topic Club
enjoys special
Christmas party
A special Christmas party
, was held by the lone Topic
Club on Dec. 17 at the home of
Vera Rietmann with Lorraine
Ladd as co-hostess.
The party featured a potluck
luncheon and gift exchange.
Lorraine Ladd read a special
prayer and all attending told
of their family Christmas
traditions. Also featured was
the reading of "Six Charming
Myths of Christmas."

have meeting

The Knits-n-Bits 4-H Knit
ting Club held the fourth
meeting of the club year, Dec.
17, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at
Debbie Hyatt's house.
Members worked on knit
ting and are doing very well.
All members were present
at the meeting.
At the next meeting, the
Rills will bring cookies and
Debbie will provide punch.
The next meeting will be
held Dec. 31. from 3:30 to 4:30
p.m. at Debbie's house.
