December 18. 1980 i ifflRr-K Local student awarded UPS scholarship Todd Harrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harrison of Lexington, has been named a recipient of a university scholarship for recognition of academic excellence at the University of Puget Sound. The recipient is a 1980 graduate of Heppner High School. 1 The University Scholarship is awarded to students based on their academic record, pre-college test scores and extracurricular activities. For 1980-31, 61 freshmen and transfer students received the award. The Financial Aid office at UPS will distribute over $6 million in financial aid funds by May 1981. University Scholarships are only one part of its total program adminis tering scholarship, loan, grant and work-study funds to students. The University of Puget Sound is a privately endowed institution committed to lib eral education in the arts and sciences and in specific pro fessional disciplines. The 2800 students on the main campus of UPS represent every state in the nation and 15 foreign countries. Founded in 1888, UPS is located in Tacoma, Wash. Lexington maps now available at state office New city maps of five Oregon communities have just been completed by the Oregon Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Fed eral Highway Administration. The communities affected are Lexington, Barlow, Can yonville, Scappoose and Sis ters. These maps are drawn to a scale of 800 feet to tht inch, and are plotted on a 17-inch by 19-inch sheet. They sell for 30 t cents per sheet. Reductions of these sheets to size S'i-inch by 11-inch, at a scale of 1,600 feet to the inch, are available at 15 cents per sheet. There is an additional charge of $1 for handling and mailing per order. The cost of the map of a particular city may be deter mined by multiplying the number of sheets indicated for that city by either 30 cents or 15 cents, depending on the size of the map desired. All the cities listed have single sheets. These maps may be pur chased by writing to the Photocopy and Map Distribut ion Unit, Room 17, Transpor tation Building, Salem, 97310.
