SIX--The Heppner Ganette-Times, Heppner. Oregon. Thursday, December 11 180 Butter Creek livestock club elects officers On Nov. 17. the Butter Creek Livestock Club met. Officers elected are: pres ident, Jeff Bailey; vice pres ident, Steve Miller; secretary, Paula Heatherly; treasurer, Nancy Bailey; and reporter. Beth Heatherly. Last year's president. Jeff Bailey, opened the meeting at 8. The meeting lasted from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Members talked about choosing piglets from the litter and diseases which pigs can get. Beth Heatherly gave a report about different pigs. Paula Heatherly gave a report on swine health. Nancy Bailey gave a report on breeds of cattle. Then Jeff Bailey closed the meeting. The next meeting will be in January. State students outscore their contemporaries Oregon high school juniors and seniors last year outscor ed their national contempor aries on all four tests adminis tered by the American College Testing Program, State School Supt. Verne A. Duncan announced recently. Nearly 1.300 Oregon college bound students were tested for their general educational de velopment and ability to complete college-level work in English, math, social studies and science. The Oregon average for all tests was 19.3. while the national average was 18.5. The Oregon average was the same as the previous year, but the national average dropped. Oregon scores on individual tests with national scores listed in parentheses: English 18. fi (17.9), math 17.5 17.4 1. social studies 18 4 (18.3). and science 22 1 (21 1 ). Oregon boys did better than girls on all hut the English test. Scores for Oregon boys and girls with boys listed first: English 18.2 and 18 9. math 19. fi and 15.9. social studies 19 fi and 17 4. science 23 9 and 20 7. and overall average 20 4 and 18 4. Sheriffs Report The Morrow County Sher iff's Dept. in Heppner handled the following cases the past week: On Dec. 4. Jim Larson. Boardman. reported a burg lary at his residence. The Oregon State Police handled the case. On Dec. 2. Matt Doherty reported vandalism to the Morrow County School' ad ministration building in Lex ington. The sheriff's dept. responded. On Dec. 1. Mel Piper. Heppner. reported a missing purebred Doberman Pinscher male. The dog is eight months old, two feet high, has uncropped ears and a short tail. Also on Dec. 1. Jeff Allardin, Boardman. requested an of ficer. He reported that his tires had been slashed. The Boardman Police Dept. res ponded. On Nov. 28. Marvin Stein brook. Wilson Trailer Court. Boardman. reported a break in. The Boardman Police Dept. responded. On Nov. 27, Jim Mays, Boardman, reported vandal ism to the First Baptist Church. The Boardman Police Dept. responded.
