Security representative here Dec, 12 A reminder to the residents of the Heppner area - the Social Security representative will be at the Heppner Neighborhood Center, 178 Wil low, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. till noon. Social Security, Supplemen tal Security Income and Medicare problems may be brought to the Social Security representative the second Friday of each month, be tween 10 a.m. and noon, to the Heppner Neighborhood Cen ter. Christmas parties set by area groups On Tuesday evening, Dec. 9, the Degree of Honor Lodge will hold its December meet ing and have its annual Christmas party beginning at 8 p.m. in the lodge hall on Main Street. President El eanor Gonty reminds all members to attend and to bring along gifts to exchange and Christmas goodies to share. At 7:30 Tuesday evening. Dec. 9, the Bookworms will gather at the home of Flor ence Green for their Christ mas program. Each member will come prepared to read a poem or short prose selection she has selected during the year-most of the selections are related to the yule season or to year's end. The group has decided to give a Christmas gift to the Heppner Library. The Book worms will return to their twice-monthly meeting schedule beginning Jan. 13. 1981. Sheriffs Report The Morrow County Sher iff's Dept. handled the follow-, ing cases over the past week. On Nov. 28, Marvin Stein brook, Wilson Trailer Court in Boardman. reported a break in. Boardman Police respond ed to the call. On Nov. 27. Jim Mays reported vandalism to the First Baptist Church in Board man. Boardman Police re sponded. On Nov. 26, slim Emert, lone, reported that one of his cows had been shot and killed. According to the sheriff's report, witnesses observed the suspects. The Morrow County Sheriff's Dept. handled the call. Lorraine Ladd, lone, re ported trespassing on her property. The sheriff's Dept. responded to the call and two subjects were cited for Crim inal Trespass II. Christinas tree permits available Christmas trees will again be available this year from the Umatilla National Forest, an nounced Herb Rudolph. For est Supervisor. Tree cutting for personal use may be done on all five Ranger Districts. Permits, cutting sites, and specific information may be obtained from the various Ranger district offices or from the Forest Supervisor's office in Pendleton. Permits cost $2 per tree and must be attached to the tree when it is being transported from the Forest. The Pendleton and Pomeroy offices will be open to issue Christmas tree permits Sat urdays, Dec. 6, 13. and 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Permits may also be obtain ed during the week from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Heppner, Dale. Pendleton. Pomeroy. and Ukiah offices. The Walla Walla District will issue permits only on the weekends of Dec. 6 and 7 and 13 and 14 at the Tollgate Guard Station from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
