Oregon, Thursday, Nov mbfr 20, 19X0 Garden glamour vine discussed ni Tnno 1 Club meeting Clematis, the glamour vine of the garden, was the subject of discussion at the Nov. 12 . meeting of the lone Garden Club with Ruth McCabe as leader. Clematis is of the ranunculi family and blooms from spring to fall. It flourish es in alkaline soil, needs good drainage and does best in half sun. There are some 150 species growing in the U.S. Potpourri was the second topic, led by Carol McKaig. She gave suggestions for various herbs and spices that can be used. Flower petals and fragrant leaves of roses, lemon verbena, mints, rose mary, thyme, basi!, and marjoram as well as crushed seeds of anise, caraway, cardamom, corriander, cloves, allspice, ginger, and nutmeg may be used. In drying petals McKaig recommended that they be placed in a single layer with the leaves not touching and then stored in a cool dark place. She also pointed out that many flowers such as jasmine, mignonette, violets and hyacinths do not hold their scent in drying. During the business meeting it was announced that 'Oasis' and 'Snip All' scissors will be available to members. Plans were made to make sachets for patients at the nursing home at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Leila Palmer acted as hostess with Lorraine Ladd assisting. Women Aglow to give thanks at turkey dinner The Heppner Women's Aglow Fellowship will give thanks Tuesday, Nov. 25, at a 6:30 p.m. turkey dinner at the Episcopal Parish Hall in Heppner. A fellowship meeting will follow at 7:15. Featured speaker will be Dee Archer. Cost for the dinner is $2.50. 38 students make lone honor roll Thirty-eight students at lone Junior-Senior High school achieved honor roll status for the first nine-week session. Those qualifying for the 'A' honor must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better; those qualifying for the 'B' honor roll must maintain a 3.0 to 3.4 grade-point average. Two students, senior Shawn LaRue. and sophomore, Den ny Starr, attained a perfect 4.00 (straight-A) average. 'A' honor roll students are: Seniors - Duane Fetsch, Shawn LaRue, Jim McCabe, and Lisa Meyers. Juniars - Margaret Doherty, Michelle LaRue, Waritf Mor ter, Anita Palmer, and Chris Rietmann. Sophomores - Craig Gutier rez, and Denny Starr. Freshmen - Howard Leavitt. Eighth Grade - Lori Fetsch. Seventh Grade - Eric Pointer. 'B' honor roll students are: Seniors - Janet Hams, Tim Key, Richard Ladd. Matt McElligott, and Treve Peter son. Juniors - Jeff Hams, Eliz abeth McElligott, Brad Schmidt, and Sandra Thompson. Sophomores - Roger Chil ders. Vince McElligott, Roger Morter, Tim Patton, and Donnie Taylor. Freshmen - Darrell .Col vard, Mike Douglas, Craig Hams, Bobby Harris, Sylvia Ladd. and Darrin Padberg. - Eighth Grade - Mark Meyers. Seventh Grade '-Richard Keene. Susan Martin, and Shellie Nash.
