During a candlelight cere mony at the home of Rita Harris four women achieved full membership In ESA International. Those honored were Mrs. LaRae Kindle, Mrs. Bebe Munkers, Verna Brinda nnd Sally Wilson. Mrs. Charles Dallas, Pend leton, spoke on Chrysanthe mum culture at the dinner meeting of the Heppncr Gar den Club, Monday evening, in the W.W. Weatherford home. Mm. Doris Cutting, club president, conducted the brief business meeting. Tables still available at AAUW Artifactory Tables are still available for the annual AAUW Artifactcy planned for Saturday, Dec, 6. It will again be held in conjunction with the Heppner Garden Club Greens workshop at the Fairgrounds in Hepp ner. All kinds of handicrafts, art, and Christmas baked goods are appropriate sale Items. Medicine Workshop,' Satur day, Nov. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The program is directed " toward all persons involved in school or volunteer sports and recreation activities. It is designed to assist individuals in prevention, recognition and treatment of sports injuries. Featured at the program will be Charles Weeks, M.D., orthopedic surgeon ; Rick Troxel, assistant athletic : trainer, University of Oregon; and Larry Groves, acting , program director, athletic department, University of Oregon. Food will be admission to 'Soup Sunday' The Hope Lutheran Church'" is involved in a hunger drive, locally and world-wide. As part of the drive, Hope Lutheran is having a special 'Soup Sunday' on Nov. 23, right after church services. Featured at 'Soup Sunday' will be a simulation game to Show the distribution of food in the world. Also (featured will be a filmstrip. Admission is a non perish able food item, which will be distributed locally to needy families. There will also be a special offering taken for world needs. lone student girl of month at WCSU, Pa. Jan A. Peterson of lone, an exchange student at West Chester State University, West Chester, Pa., from Oregon State University, has been chosen as girl of the month for October at Wayne Hall on the campus of WCSU. Leadership, participation" and performance on campus are the qualifications for this honor. Peterson is majoring in home economics and com munication. The club has seven mem bers this year: Kim Wright, president; Merry DeSpain, vice-president; Kim George, secretary; and Trina Palmer and Noella Rill, news report ers. Activity chairmen are Nance Wright and Stacy Toll. Nance Wright, Stacy Toll, and Trina Palmer are new members. On Nov. 8, the Souper Seamers went to the Button Hole in Hermiston for most of the day, and got material and patterns for pants. Each member is making a pair of pants to start out the new year. ' The next meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 15, at Judy Wright's house. Nance will serve cookies and Merry will serve punch. 4-H Gem and Geplogy Club elects officers At their meeting on Oct. 6, the 4-H Gem and Geology Club elected officers. Elected for president was Gibb Evans; for vice-president, Suzan Evans; for treas urer, Swayne Evans; for secretary, Steve Hulen; for news reporter, Maria Mills; and for sergeant-at-arms, Co leen Dike. On Oct. 25, the club went to Umatilla on a field trip. Club members looked for agates and jasper and any other stories that could be used in their collections. The field trip concluded with a wiener roast and picnic.
