M0 Irrigon hosts exchange student by Frances Rose Wilson 11 "J Pascal DeVille of Brussels, Belgium, is making his home in Irrigon as a foreign exchange student. He is stay ing with Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Brownlee who have had sev eral exchange students in their home. The exchange student last year was a girl from Norway. Pascal is a graduate student attending Riverside High School. He attended an all boys school at L'allend where he learned to speak German, French. Latin and English as well as his native tongue, Flemish. Pascal was born in Califor . nia where his father went to 1 college. The family moved to Belgium within three years. He has two brothers, Serge, 19, who is studying towards becoming a doctor, and Fa brice, 12. Pascal plans to major in commercial subjects for four years in Belgium. He says he would then like to further his studies at Stanford. Can ' Airman Lucas home on leave J" "m Jf "" "-O Airman Ty Lucas Airman 1st class Tyrone Lucas, son of Linda Lucas of Heppner, is home on a month's leave after complet ing technical school as an ammunitions expert at Lowry Air Force base in Denver Colorado. Airman Lucas, a 1980 Hepp ner High School graduate, joined the Air Force in J jly of this year. He will report for duty on Nov. 15 at Okinawa, Japan. BMCC reps to visit lone, Heppner schools Visits to area high schools by representatives from Blue Mountain Community College are starting now. and will continue through December, according to Pat Loughary, dean of students at BMCC. College representatives will meet with high school seniors to let them know about the programs and costs of attend ing Blue Mountain. During their visit, they make bro chures and catalogs available to the students. A slide-tape show is also presented. Loughary and GeneAnn McLean, student activities director, will make most of the visits. About 40 high schools in Eastern Oregon will be in cluded in the program. 'The visits give the senior a realistic view of what college life is like at Blue Mountain." McLean said. "We give them tips on how to start school and prepare for registrational any college or university also," she added. BMCC representatives will be at lone High School at 11 a.m. on Nov. 24. and at Heppner High School at 1:30 p.m. M .J .r ... iTj'.
