Meeting for fellowship and learning, the women will be "Exploring the Place of the Bible in Our Lives," in a program led by the Rev. Cathy Barker of the lone UCC. Special guest for the event will be Anne Gordon of Hillshoro, president of the Central Pacific Conference of United Church of Christ Wom en. Opening worship will be St. Anthony to offer ed. programs St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton will again present a series of monthly educational programs. These programs are made possible at no cost to the public because of contri butions of time by physicians, hospital personnel and comm unity professionals. ' a five day program designed to help smokers quit. The 'Slop Smoking Clinic' will le held on five consecutive evenings. The 'Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ff'PK) Training Program' will ie presented in a two-part format this year, twice during the series. The first program will be present ed Nov. 12. 6:30 to 9 p.m. and presented by Susan Sohu bothe, who, along with her husband, was in Africa during a stint in the Peace Corps. The Rev. Johnston, an Assemblies of God missionary to Ghana. West Africa, will be guest speaker for a missions service on Oct. 5. at the 11 a m. service at the Irrigon Assembly of God. located on N.E. 8th St. in Irrigon. the Reverend Alen Gordanier. pastor, has announced. The Rev. Johnston and his wife, Sharon, recently com pleted their first four-year term of missionary service in Ghana. They taught at the Northern Bible Institute in Kumbungu. Ghana, and also worked along with national Christians in establishing new churches. Johnston worked four years in several countries with "Youth with a Mission," an evangelism or ganization. He earned a B.A. degree from Northwest Coll ege in Kirkland. Wash., and also studied at the University of Nebraska, at Lincoln. Neb.
