Thursday, September lg, l8-TIIREE lone Garden Club meets Rachel Jackson, district director for Blue Mountain District No. 10 of the Oregon Slate Garden Clubs, visited at the lone Garden Club on September 9 when it met at the home of Ruth McCabe with Pat Pettyjohn as co-host-ess. Rachel showed the trophy which was won by the district for the second year in the historic preservation project from the state federation. She also presented the ribbon to the lone club for winning a national award for the "30 Blooming Years" flower show. Another guest for the day was Mrs. Ethel Study, presi dent of the Hermiston Garden Club. Delta Huber. president of the lone club, presented Rachel with a dried arrange ment which won an award for best arrangement at the Morrow County Fair as a token of appreciation. Joyce Buchanan, member ship chairman, presented a green thumb to new members, Dorothy Burcham and Carol McKaig. Plans were made for participation in the district meeting to be held in Pendle ton on Sept. 25 at the Peace Lutheran Church. The American Angus Assoc iation, with some 38.000 active life and junior mem bers. is the largest beef cattle registry association in the world. Its computerized records include detailed information on nearly 10 million registered Angus. The Association records ancestral information and keeps records of production on individual animals for its members. These permanent records help members select and mate the best animals in their herds to produce high quality, efficient breeding cat tle which are then recorded with the American Angus Association.
