J5WW UHI V RodooJ Prescriptions Cosmetics IE END Q3 MWTXTJ The Fair and Rodeo parade director arrives about 10 minutes before the parade starts to get the whole thing organized right? Wrong. Jim Wishart, who has been parade director for the past five years and assistant parade director in 1975, puts in many long hours to assure that the parade will be smooth running and enter taining. His work involves sending out the entry forms, choosing judges, arranging for prizes and ribbons, determining the order of entries and parade routes, keeping everyone in line and under control, start ing the parade and taking care of a "million" last minute details. "I've had them (parade entries) come five minutes before the parade. When it gets too close to the time, there's no way I can get them in," said Wishart. "I get a lot of help from Jim Farley and Comett Green who ride on horseback to get things going," added Wishart. Jim said he expects a normal number of entries this year. He said there were 14 floats last year and 15 the year before, with a total of about 20 entries. Heading up the parade this year at 10 a.m. on Saturday, It - if I !.. . ' i if! SZX FcjQDu v7irTjeDaSiKc. Aug. 23, will be the color guard by the American Legion and the VFW. Following them will be the 1980 Morrow County Rodeo Queen and her court and the band. Roughly $400 in prizes are awarded to parade entries every year. The grand sweep stakes of $50 goes to the best local (within Morrow County) float. One of the highlights of the Fair and Rodeo is of course, the parade. Young and old alike can sit down on Main Street and watch the parade together Saturday morning, August 23, starting at 10 a.m. .4 . The children's division entries will join the parade at North 'A St., and the riding clubs and the queen and her court will join at Gale St. Jim, as most everyone in the area knows, is employed at the Bank of Eastern Oregon in Heppner. He and his wife, Cam, have four children. A son, Jim, also lives in Hepp ner; a daughter lives in Florida; another lives in Prairie City ; and another son is in the Navy in the Mediterranean. V. J.
