Thursday, May 15. 1K0 Automatic smoke detectors required July 1 Automatic smoke detectors will be required in Oregon after July 1 in all rental'units used for sleeping purposes. It will be up to the tenants to see that the detectors are provided. Clyde W. Centers, state fire marshal, said there are not enough men available in fire departments to enforce the new law. "It is the responsibility of the landlord that the dwelling unit be equipped with a functioning smoke detector and that the tenant be provided with written instruc tions for testing the device." Easter Seal camp to aid handicpped Physically disabled children and adults from throughout Oregon who want to swim, fish, ride horseback and otherwise enjoy a session at Camp Easter Seal this sum mer should write soon for applications. Camp Director Kay Stratton says that application forms will be mailed in late April to prospective campers, and will be processed in the order they are returned. The 1980 camp sessions are scheduled as follows: Session I (7-10 year olds) June 22-28: Session II (11-14) year olds July 2-11: Session III (22 years and older) July 15-24: Session IV (Special focus i July 28-August 6 and Session V (15-21 years( Au gust 10-19. In addition to openings for approximately 240 campers, summer 1980 openings also exist for volunteer camp staff members. Volunteers, aged 14 and older, may work either as kitchen aides or as cabin aides, and can sign up for one or more session.
