Parker threw the shot put 49 feet and 10' 4 inches for the top performance of the day and was also first in the discus with a throw of 136-4. Parker placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 41-2' and was sixth in the 100 meter dash. "He just missed winning the high point individual trophy by l 2 points," Coach Dale Conklin said. Todd Sherer was second in the 800 meters with a time of 2: 10. Larry Palmer was fourth in the 1500 meters and Dan Nix was fifth. Nix also came in fourth in the 3.000 meters. The team had a "nice surprise" from Earl Ham mond, sophomore, who threw the javelin 145-8 for fifth place. "That throw was 17 feet farther than his throw the week before which is quite an improvement " Conklin said. Hammond just missed plac ing in the long jump with a leap of 18-6. The girls team from Hepp Murray raps homer John Murray belted a three run home run to lead Hepp ner's varsity baseball team to an 11-4 win over Wallowa last Saturday in the Pilot Rock baseball tournament. But the Mustangs did not do as well in the title game as the team lost to Pilot Rock 7-4. In the first game, John Bier pitched the complete game for the win. Heppner scored 11 runs on 10 hits and made no errors while Wallowa had its four runs on only four hits and that learn comitted three miscues. Dour, Holland had a single and a double in the game. Conklin said he was "pleased" with the perform ance of Kim Miller in the 300 meter hurdles as she finished seventh with a time of 57.7 seconds and just missed placing in the top six. "That is a new event so she has established a school record with that time," Conk lin said. "It was the first time out this year for the girls so I tried to experiment with the girls in different events but I know we will do better." In the title contest. Robin LaRue wins two events as lone captures Condon Invitational Robin LaRue finished first in the 110 and the 300 meter hurdles to lead the lone Cardinal boys track team to a first place finish in the Condon Invitational last Saturday. LaRue was the only Cardi nal to finish first in an event for lone but the Cards had enough boys competing who placed in the top six to take the team title with 86 points.
