Bombing
range
to have
animals?
The United States bombing
range near Boardman may
became a home for grouse and
antelope, according to Glen
Ward of Heppner, Fish and
Wildlife biologist.
Ward said the Navy and the
Oregon Department of Fish
and Wildlife are undertaking a
study to set if antelope and
grouse can live on the 47,200
acres.
Preliminary plans are to
have watering holes on a
20.000 acre section for the
animals. Ward said the Navy
has its bombing practice using
12-pound smoke bombs so the
animals would not be in much
danger.
