April 3. 1980 Jim Parker places first in Willamette shot But Jim Parker came in first place in the shot put with a throw of 47 feet 10 inches at the Willamette Relays last Satur day in Salem to lead the Heppner Mustangs with the Thinning course offered A forest thinning course will be conducted by the Morrow County Extension Service April 9. School board plans meeting The Morrow County School Board will have a special meeting April 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Riverside High School in Boardman. The purpose of the meeting will be to determine what action is needed on the defeated budget before it is voted on a second time. The board must also set a date for a second election. In other action, the board will consider the amount and the date of the tax base election required by law. Bombing range to have animals? The United States bombing range near Boardman may became a home for grouse and antelope, according to Glen Ward of Heppner, Fish and Wildlife biologist. Ward said the Navy and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife are undertaking a study to set if antelope and grouse can live on the 47,200 acres. Preliminary plans are to have watering holes on a 20.000 acre section for the animals. Both squads will com pete in Condon this Saturday at 11 a.m. Starr's toss was 130 feet which earned him first place in the invitational. LaRue had a toss of 79 feet and 1 inch to place sixth. Starr was also first in the shot put with a throw of 40' 1". Gregg Rietmann was first in the triple jump with a leap of 39'1".
