Cards at home Saturday
The lone Cardinals played
Cascade Locks last night in a
make-up game of last Satur
day's contest that was called
off because of icy road
conditions.
The Cards will play Helix
tomorrow night in an away
game and Wheeler Saturday
at home in an 8 p.m. contest.

Petersons is in the first
place position in the Spare
timers Bowling Lague with a
13-3 record followed closely by
theCoast-to-Coast team at 12-4
and the Morrow County Grain
Growers at 10-6.
Jerry's Mobil is in the fourth
slot witha 9-7 mark and
Gardners is fifth at 6-10 and
Central Market next with 5-11.
Sears is also 5-11 and Buck
nums is last with a 4-12 record.
After 16 games in the second
half of the bowling season, the
teams are spread out in the
total pins standings. The first
four teams stand the same
way with Petersons first with
8,629, Coast-to-Coast second
with 8.598, M.C.G.G. third
with 8,296 and Jerry's Mobil
fourth with 7,742.
In fifth place is Central
Market with 7,517 total pins
and Bucknums is sixth with
7,307. The last two spots are
held by Sears with 6,965 and
Gardners with 6,622.
Karen Palmer bowled the
high game of the week with a
191 and Fran Cook again had
the high three game series
with 499.
Petersons had the high team
game with 789 and the high
tern series with 2,225.
Candy Gates made the 5-10
split, Marie Turner the 5-7,
"Phyllis Cole the 7-10, Tonya
Jones the 1-5-10 and Betty
Christman the 3-7-10.
Keglers League
The Dregs are in first place
in the Koffee Kup Keglers
League with a 9-3 record.
Weary Wives are in second
place at 8-4 and the Three L's
third at 7-5. Three teams are
tied for fourth place with 6-6
marks. They are the Hi Ho's
team, the Newcomers and the
Three Holers. The Pytts team
is 5-7 and the Gutter Dusters
last with a 1-11 mark.
Iris Campbell bowled the
high game of the week with a
508. The Hi Ho's had the high
team game with 558 and also
the high team series with
1,640.
Pat Lankford made the 5-10
split, Betty Brown also made
the 5-10 and Roxie Lovgren
made the 6-7-10 combination.
The Hi Ho's team is first in
total points with 4,605 and the
Newcomers second with 4,590.
The Drebs team is third with
4,573 and the. Weary Wives
fourth with 4,553. The Three
Holer's team is fifth with 4,530
and the Three L's team sixth
with 4,507. The Gutter Dusters
are seventh with 4,473 and the
Pytts last with 4,392.

and they are not as quick as
we are," said Del LaRue. the

"Wheeler is potentially more
dangerous. They have one big
man who is 6-foot-6."

game was close until lone put
on a press and then the Cards
blew the game open. He said
the team will probably put on
its press earlier in the game
this time because Wheeler
could not "handle the pres
sure" in the first meeting.

beats Heppner
by four points
The lone Junior High bas
ketball team beat Heppner's
junior high team for the
second time this year last
Thursday by a score of 28-24.
The teams were tied 16-16 at
halftime but a Heppner press
caused some turnovers and
the Ponies took the lead in the
early minutes of the fourth
quarter. lone countered with a
man-to-man press of its own
and came back to win.
Craig Hams led the winner
with 13 points with Mark
Meyers scoring 8. Steve Mill
man 5 and Darrin Padberg 2.
Greg Orr scored 14 for
Heppner and Todd Miller
scored 4. 1
Ione's next game is today at
Arlington. The young Cardi-.
nals will participate in the
Helix jamboree Satruday with
the first game at 9 a.m. The
other teams in the tournament
are Helix, Echo and Pleasant
View.

for application forms and additional information. Applicants applying for more than
one agency must submit separate application forms for each vacancy. Applications
must be received by 5 p.m.. February 29, 1980.
Only an individual may be appointed as agent. Appointment as a retail package store
agent of the OLCC creates no ownership or property rights in the agency.
Criteria used to select the best qualified applicant include successful work
experience, preferably in the retail sales field; educational background; health; and
financial ability to meet investment and operating expenses necessary to operate the
agency. Applicants' educational, employment, and financial references must be such
that they can qualify for a fidelity bond. Applicants must show evidence of a suitable
location which is acceptable to the Commission. This liquor store agency must be
operated in conjuncion with another business. Successful applicant must be prepared
to enter into an agency agreement contract with OLCC and begin agency operation on
the effective date indicated above.
All applications received shall be investigated, screened, and final selection made
from the finalists by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission at its public meeting in
Milwaukie on March 25-26, 1980. Finalists may be asked to a personal interview by the
staff screening committee in Milwaukie, and will be notified in advance.

cut the gap to 19-18 at

in scoring in the first half with
8 points with Devin adding 6,

Conner 2 each and Geri Grieb
scored 1.
Heppner si ill led at the end
of the three quarters 27-26 but
Condon went ahead in the
fourth quarter on a 15 footer
by Jennifer Bauman.
Condon scored on an offen
sive rebound and a fast break
to make the score 36-31 in
favor of Condon with 3:30 left
in the game. Little 5-foot-l
Meg Greiner led the Condon
comback with her quickness
on the fast break.
The Blue Devils had a
chance to put the game out of
reach as Heppner was forced
to foul but Condon could not
convert the free throws as the
team made 2-of-10 in the
fourth quarter.
Heppner could have had a
chance to win the game when
Greiner missed a foul shot but
the Fillies did not block out
and Condon got the rebound
and ran out the clock.
Griener scored 7 of her team
hih 13 points in the fourth
quarter comeback.
Heppner outrebounded the
visitors 32-28 with Abrams
leading the home team with
11.
Kincaid led the team in
scoring with 14 points, Devin
scored 8, Grieb 5, Conner and
Abrams 4 each and Sandra
Ward scored 2 points.
