Morrow jobless
still at 41
The unemployment rate for
Morrow County remained
steady in October and Septem
ber. The rate was 4.1 percent
with 280 people unemployed
both months.
The civilian labor force for
the number employed rose
from 6,830 to 6,840 in the two
months.
The civilian labor force is
the total of all civilians,
16-years-old and older, who
are employed or unemployed.
The lumber and wood indus
try lost the most employees in
the county with 30 workers
being laid off.
"It could be the start of tight
money or it may just be
seasonal but we will have to
wait until next month to see,"
Roland Stewart, of the depart
ment of labor, said.
Stewart said construction
has remained strong in the
county, because of the work
' being done on the coal-fired
plant.
How dolphins sleep
Dolphins seem to be able to
sleep with one eye open, and
with half the brain still awake,
National Geographic says.
They need only about as much ,
sleep as a cow perhaps two
or three hours a day.
Before they left the land to
return to the sea some 50
million years ago, dolphins
may have been related to
forerunners of today's, cowsti
goats, and sheep. Like these'
animals, dolphins have se
veral stomachs.
