On Wednesday a good group went to Cutsforth Park for a fall picnic day. Special guests were patients from the Pio neer Memorial Hospital Nurs ing Home who were brought out to the park on the Senior Bus, several in their wheel chairs. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ludwig of Irrigon he is remembered as a teacher and principal in the Lexington School. On Friday the county Transportation Director Tru man Messenger made an early morning trip to the north end to gather a load of seniors who went to Pendleton to view the Westward Ho Parade. The sixteen travelers had wonder ful front row seats, enjoyed the parade very much, and then had lunch together in Pendleton before being trans ported back to north Morrow. This was the first use of the Senior Bus for a trip planned by the north county seniors. County Health Nurse Pat Wright will give flu shots to seniors who are asked to pay for the cost of the vaccine used. The dinner menus for next week are: Tuesday in Hepp ner hamburger-macaroni and cheese casserole, carrot, raisin and pineapple salad, buttered spinach, bran muf fins and peanutbutter sundae cake with peaches. Wednes day at lone and Heppner to mato juice, beef-noodle cas serole, frozen mixed vege tables, apple-cabbage salad, biscuits with jelly and choco late pudding. Kinzua hosts 44 Kinzua Corp. hosted 44 members of the West Coast Dry Kiln Association in Hepp ner last Saturday. Bob Lankford, lumber divi sion superintendant at Kinzua, had invited the group to hold its meeting here. The visitors represented wood products firms through Washington and Oregon Dan Sweeney, Kinzua per sonnel manager, said the guests were given a two-hour guided tour of the local mill, including its dry kiln and computerized sawmill. A luncheon and buisness meeting were held at the West of Willow Restaurant in Heppner. Family from England visiting here Catherine Jensen's mother, Florence Kemp, and Cather ine's niece, Angela Fisher, from Nottingham, England, are visiting in the Jackie Jensen home in the Blake Ranch area until the end of November. Mrs. Kemp and 10-year-old granddaughter Angela arrived August 27, which she states "will long be remembered as the day that Lord Mountbatten was killed by the bombing." The trip from England went nicely until their luggage was ?ost in Seattle. However, it came on to Portland one week later, and they are pleased to be re-united with their belong ings. Last year the Jensen's daughter Colleen visited with her grandmother and her mother's sister, Carol Fisher, and family in Nottingham and attended school there with her cousin for six weeks. Now Angela is attending school ir Heppner with Colleen. They are in the fifth grade and will be bringing their classmates firsthand information about the differences in Nottingham ' and Heppner schoolrooms.
