Grange met at the Rhea Creek ,
Grange Hall on Saturday for
their regular meeting. Com
mittee reports were heard
from the various chairmen
and resolutions were read.
Following, the group ad
journed for a dinner and the
cake walk. Following this the
lecturer introduced Dorris
Graves, who showed slides of
the washed-out conditions of
the Morrow County fields and
roads and showed films of the
Mall in Washington, D.C. and
some farm tractors that were
there for the farmers march.
The delegates to State
Grange from Pomona are Mr.
and Mrs. Barton Clark. Sever
al resolutions were adopted
and much discussion was
heard about the bills in the
Legislature. The meeting ad
journed at 3:30 p.m.
Greenf ield Grange of Board-
man issued a cordial invita
tion for the group to visit there
in June. Roll call was as
follows: Willows, 5; Green
field, 4; Lexington, 8; and
hostess Grange, 17.
Lee Wagenblast has return
ed to her home from a few
days spent in Pioneer Memor
ial Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard
Shodin from Salem were
overnight guests of Mrs. Ma jo
Hughes on Monday night. Mrs.
Shodin is the former Janet
Kendall, a former Lexington
resident.
In Lexington for the ser
vices of Homer Hughes were
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mar
quardt, Elsie Marquardt, Gil
bert Balsinger and Mr. and
Mrs. Mel Balsinger of Port
land. Also there were Rick
Marquardt of Connell, Mr. and'
Mrs. Diddier of Irrigon and
Mr. and Mrs. John Marquardt
of Vancouver, Wash.
Robert Lovgren has return
ed home after a few days stay
in Pioneer Memorial Hospital.
Dick Wallace of California
has been renewing acquaint
ances in Lexington the last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Burch
am and sons Kenny and David
from Pendleton visited with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Burcham. Other visit
ors this week are Linda
Jackson and son Danny. They
have been making their home
in Denver but afe moving to
F'endleton. Mrs. Jackson is the
former Linda Joan Burcham.
Earl Miller of Boardman
was a weekend visitor at the
home of his Aunt and Uncle,
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones.
Vic Klinger has been at the
home of his mother Annetta
Klinger for the past week.
They visited Pete Klinger who
is a patient in the Vets
Hospital in Walla Walla.
Among those enjoying game
fishing over the weekend at
the local lakes were Mr. and
Mrs. Chas Buchanan, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Robinson, Mr. and
Mrs. G rover Peck.
Holly Rebekah Lodge met at
the hall on Thursday evening
for their regular meeting with
the NG Leila Palmer in the
chair. Attention was drawn to
the lot that has recently been
cleaned off by Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Peck. A special
thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Peck.
Plans are for further work
there as soon as weather
permits. Plans for the coming
Food Sale on Friday were
discussed . The food will be left

Brok Tucker, a Lexington
Hermiston farmer, recently
attended a National Gasohol
meeting in Denver, Colorado
and learned to make a low cost
still for home fill.

home are a must in a
community this size and this
remote geographically," said

board's budget request, "and
the only way we can keep
these facilities operating at
the level of care people expect

Spring Concert Thursday night
The Heppner High School
Band and Jim Ackley Rock
Band left Sunday for a band
tour of Seaside in Western
Oregon.
The 40 band members and
six chaperones performed at ,
Broadway Middle School and'
Gearhart Elementary School
and enjoyed some of the re-
creational fun along the ocean
beaches. They stayed at Camp
Rilea, a military reservation
near Seaside.
A wide variety of music was ,
played at the performances
according to Band Director
Jim Ackley. The contempo
rary rock group, the Jim
Ackley Band, was slated to
play such hits as "Three
Times A Lady" and "Blue
Morning, Blue Day."
The final high school band
concert of the year starts at
7:30 p.m. with free admission
for the public. The choir will
be under the direction of Kitty
Mooberry.
A concert May 31 at 7:30
p.m. will conclude the ele
mentary and junior high
musical season.
When they return to Hepp
ner later in the week, the band
will be preparing for Thurs
day night's Spring Concert at
the Heppner High School;
gymnasium. . . '
