Morrow County on display
in State Capitol Building
Scenes of Morrow County's past, present and future are on display at the State Capitol Building in
Salem. Morrow County was one of the first counties in the state selected to enter displays in the
new Capitol Building exhibit area. Material for the four Morrow County showcases was collected
by upper Rhea Creek rancher and farm history buff Harold "Shorty" Peck. The displays were
arranged by staff of the Oregon Historical Society. Exhibits include implements used by early day
Morrow County shepherds, a display on wheat, and a display on the county's new power and pivot
irrigation developments.

Morrow County Cowbelles
and Livestock Growers will
host a Western Fun Night on
Saturday, May 12, from 9 p.m.
to 1 a.m. at the lone Legion
Hall.
The Roadrunners will pro
vide music for the social
event, open to the Livestock
Growers, Cowbelles and their
friends and guests. Donations
of $4 per couple will be
accepted.
Those attending are asked
to bring hors d'oeuvres and
potation.

BMCC livestock
judging Saturday
The Technical Agriculture
Department at Blue Mountain
Community College will host
their Invitational Livestock
Judging Contest Saturday,
May 5 on the college campus.
The contest is open to all
Future Farmers of America
and 4-H members in Eastern
and Central Oregon, accord
ing to Paul Davis, BMCC
technical agriculture instructor.
Registration will begin at
8:30 a.m. in Pioneer Hall. The
day-long contest will include
livestock evaluation in the
morning and oral reasons in
the afternoon. The awards
presentation will start at 3:30
p.m.
Judges for the contest will
be the BMCC Livestock
Judging Team.
