Heavy loads, thaw

master "Doc" Sherer reminds
farmers, ranchers, loggers
and others who haul heavy
loads that extreme damage
can be done to county roads
during the spring thaw.
Sherer said, "We're happy
with the cooperation we've
received so far, but the thaw
ahead still has us worried."
Irrigon church
slates fund raiser
Columbia View Fellowship
in Irrigon is engaged in
"Buying a Piece of the Rock"
project. A model of the church
has been placed on the bulletin
board, with squares positioned
where the exterior stone will
eventually be installed. Mem
bers are writing their names
in the squares representing a
square foot of rock. The
squares are rapidly filling in,
and it is anticipated that by
the time the weather is warm
enough to do the job, it will be
completely paid for.
Those participating will sign
a sheet of paper which will be
mortared between the stone
and the building. Although it
will not be visible, it will stand
as a reminder to members
driving by that they bought a
"piece of the rock."
Mary Adams was taken by
her son Don Adams to
Portland where she was
scheduled for eye surgery at
the Good Samaritan Hospital.
A recent visitor of Mary
Stephens was her son Joe of
Portland.
The Good News Singers will
be giving a program of Gospel
music at the A.C. Houghton
Auditorium on Friday Feb. 2
at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is wel
come to attend.
