TEN The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday February 1, 1979 Rebekahs hold installation rite Ron Daniels Ron Daniels, President of Blue Mountain Community College since 1974, has been appointed to a three-year term on the State System Community College Coordi nating Committee. The ap pointment was made by Dr. Verne Duncan, Oregon's State Superintendent of Public In struction. The function of the college coordinating committee is to maintain statewide articula tion between the state's com munity colleges and institu tions of the State System of Higher Education. The committee deals with problems that arise in the areas of admissions, student financial aid, evaluation of transfer courses, and jurisdic tional disputes involving dup lication of programs. Installation of the 1979 Rebekah officers was held Thursday afternoon at the Rebekah Hall. ' J The meeting was calleif tp order by the NG Irene Padberg, who conducted the opening before turning it over to the DDP Delpha Jones and her installing team of Hilda the weekend with his wife and small son, returned to his work in Portland on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Saw yer of Burbank Heights visited Pete Klinger at the hospital, and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Jones on Monday evening. Mrs. Jim Martin of Portland drove to Lexington Sunday to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clell Rea. Mr. Rea is a patient in Pioneer Memorial Hospital. While here, Mrs. Martin will also visit at the Roy and Tom Martin homes. Scott Balfe of Anchorage, Alaska, is presently staving with his grandparents, 'Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Palmer, and will be attending school in lone. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Balfe of that city. Following this, committees were appointed to get ready for the State President's visit on March 1. A past Noble Grand pin was presented to Irene Padberg. Refreshments were served. The next meet ing is scheduled for the home of Florence McMillan on Thursday afternoon. This is the time to reveal Secret Sisters and draw names for the coming year. Refresh ments will be served. Pete Klinger is a patient in Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. Dean Hunt was taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital Monday evening, where he remained as a patient. Edmundson on OCE honor roll Kristin Edmundson of Hep pner has been named to Oregon College of Education's fall term honor roll, for maintaining a grade point average of more than 3.5. Miss Edmundson is a fresh man at the Monmouth college. Hedman makes straight A9s at EOSC Dee Ann Hedman of Hep pner maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during fall term studies at Eastern Oregon College in LaGrande. Also making the honor roll for grades averaging 3.5 or higher were James Malcom of Heppner, 3.61, and Emma Jean Piening of lone, 3.73.
