Special worship set at All
Saints9 Episcopal Church
Senior Citizen News
On Sunday, Jan. 21 at the
10:30a.m. Eucharist, the Rev.
Kenneth D. Miller, rector of
All Saints' Episcopal Church,
will be admitted to the
Associates and Companions of
the Community of the Holy
Spirit.
The Community is a
religious order of women,
called nuns or sisters, of the
Episcopal Church in the
U.S.A. To be an associate and
a companion one consents to
and takes on a prescribed rule
of life to pray for . the
Community and aid in its
growth and to follow a
personal rule of life in order to
enter a state of grace.
Fr. Louis Perkins and his
wife Hazel will be at All Saints
for this special service. Mrs.
Perkins is a companion of the
religious order and she will
present Fr. Miller to be
received by Fr. Perkins to
associate membership. Fr.
Perkins will also preach the
sermon at this special Eucharist.
OBITUARIES
Elsie Mollahan
Elsie Mae Mollahan, 74, a
former Heppner resident, died
in Ashland, Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Funeral arrangements are
pending at Sweeney Mortuary
of Heppner.
A complete obituary will be
published next week.
Wilbur Gourley
Wilbur Alton Gourley, 74, of
Lexington and Heppner, died
Sunday, Jan. 14, in Pendleton.
Mr. Gourley was born in
Lyman, Wyoming on March
28, 1904, the son of James and
Mary Cammell Gourley.
On Feb. 19, 1930, he was
married to Violet Corrigall at
Walla Walla.
A well known retired wheat
and cattle rancher, he was a 60
year resident of the area.
Funeral services were Wed
nesday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. at
Sweeney Mortuary Chapel,
with the Rev. Kenneth Miller
of All Saints' Episcopal
Church officiating.
Carl and Betty Marquardt
sang "The Old Rugged Cross"
and "He Leadeth Me", with
Betty Marquardt as pianist.
Casket bearers were Len
Ray Schwarz, Monte Evans,
Faye Prock, Terry Thompson,
Allen Hughes and Bill Pad
berg. Concluding services and
vault interment were at Hep
pner Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Gourley is survived by
his wife, Violet, of Lexington;
two brothers, John Gourley of
Kammer, Wyo., and James
Gourley of Dallas, Ore. ; and a
sister, Florence Herford of
Salem.

Funeral services were held
for Minta Webb of Walla Walla
Wash, at St. Paul's Episcopal
Church, with Father Ernest
Campbell officiating. Inter
ment was in the Mt. View
Cemetery.
Mrs. Paul Webb was born in
Ava, Mo. on Jan. 14, 1896. Her
parents were William & Mary
Pettyjohn. She moved to
Heppner in 1915 with her
parents.
She married Paul Webb on
Sept. 19, 1915, and they
ranched in the Heppner area.
The ranch was originally
homesteaded by his father,
Nathanial Webb in 1882. The
couple moved to Walla Walla
in 1920, and farmed in the
Prescott area with his
brother, Nat Webb.
Mrs Webb is survived by one
son, Paul Webb Jr., of Walla
Walla; three daughters, Mary
McGough and Helen Morse of
Walla Walla; and Ruth Cleve
land of Heppner; a sister,
Myra Medlock of Ava, Mo.;
two brothers, Raymond Petty
john of Arlington, Ore. and
Archie Pettyjohn of West
Plains, Mo.; 11 grandchildren
and 18 great-grandchildren.

On Monday, Jan. 22; at 1:30
p.m. there will be a meeting of
the Morrow County Senior
Citizen Advisory Council in
the conference room at the
Columbia Basin Electric
Building. Officials from
Pendleton will meet with the
county council.
The Pendleton office
announces that the next Area
Agency on Ageing meeting
will be in Heppner on Tues
day, Feb. 13. The last sched
uled meeting had to be called
off because of bad weather
and difficult traveling condit

who would like help must call
in their needs.

tered corn, biscuits and jelly
and fruit cobbler.
At Heppner, Tuesday, Jan.
23, roast pork and applesauce,
mashed potatoes, buttered
peas, molded fruit salad, hot
rolls and jelly and butter
scotch pudding.
At lone and Heppner, Wed
nesday, Jan. 24, pot roast and
vegetables, apple, carrot and
raisin salad, biscuits and jelly
and pineapple-tapioca
pudding.
