SIX The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday January 4,1979 Irrigon zone change hearing is rescheduled Because of the holiday activities the council hearing on adoption of a zoning ordinance and related land use changes has been reset for Jan 7 at the North Morrow Annex Building. A zone change to light industrial is being considered for properties south of High way 730 and lying between 14th and 15th streets. The Irrigon news Francis Rose Wilson 922-3352 public is encouraged to partic ipate in this hearing. Pastor and Mrs. Carl Wright of the Irrigon Baptist Church plan to attend the Watch Night Service at the Athena Baptist Church. Their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gib Morrison attend this church. The Wrights will be visiting their home. Mrs. Norrison and her daughter Shelley plan to be baptized at this time. The Rev. Wright will participate in the baptismal service. The Irrigon Lioness held a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Harold Hadley in Irrigon. Six members were added to their club in a candlelight initiation cere mony. The new members included: Jean Hodson, Nathy Riley, Clara Courtney, Marie White, Livian Bray and Glenna Lostin. The Lostins have recently moved here from Smith River, Calif. The club made a beautiful quilt of embroidered lions which was raffled off. Mrs. Marie White was the winner of the quilt. The Australian exchange students, Carol and Michelle, along with their host families were guests at the party. Several games were played including questions on Christ mas. Mr. and Mrs. William Mc Gibbon and Laura of Concord. Calif, visited at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. Bray in Irrigon. Also ac comanying the family was McGibbons' mother Ellen Mc Gibbon of Oakland. She is employed by the University of California. they accompanied the Brays' on a "Progressive dinner", visiting several homes here and in Hermiston. The dinner was sponsored by the Lions Club. Mrs. Mary Stephens had a pleasant Christmas holiday, spent with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Stephens. He is employ ed by the Pendleton Golf and Country Club. Other guests were the Stephens daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Brooks and Mrs. Mae McKinney of Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gordan ier, newlyweds of Springfield, were Christmas guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Allen Gordanier. Summer jobs in forest are available Cont. from page 5 Salaries range from $3.57 per hour for GS-2 positions to $5.05 for GS-5. Selections for sea sonal Jobs will begin in mid-February with some jobs starting in April. Employment can last until Dec. 31, 1979. No written examination is required, but some jobs may require a driver's license and-or a physical fitness test. Education, availability and experience will determine chances for employment. Applications are available at the Supervisor's Office of the Umatilla National Forest, or at Ranger District Offices in Dale. Ukiah, Heppner, Walla Walla and Pomeroy. A New Years Eve party and dance was planned by the Irrigon Lions Club with Wayne McCutchen and the Country Music Makers, from 9 until after mid-night. Donna Driver and her grandmother, Ada Montague, 91 years, visited relatives in Tacoma and Ellensburg for a week during the Christmas holidays. Miss Driver left her grandmother at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Florence and Francis Palmer, then drove on to Tacoma where she visited her father, Jack Driver. Mr. and Mrs. Terry McCoy visited his parents for four days before Christmas since they knew they would be unable to come to Irrigon at that time. So Benny and Floribel had two Christmases. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Hobbs on Christ mas day included Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hobbs Jyl and Becky, Irrigon and Sheryl Hobbs' mother, Mrs. Vonna McKinney and Roy Riddle of Pasco. A recent visitor at the Floyd Hobbs home was their son Byran Hobbs of Portland. , They were also expecting Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hobbs of Klamath Falls to visit soon.
