Museum tour highlights
January study group
meeting
The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday December 28, 1978 NINE
Extension Events...,
with Birdine Tullis
Each year our Extension
Study Groups have a "free
choice" topic for their Jan
uary meetings, and the gals
always come up with very
creative ideas. The "Willow
Creek" group, which meets in
the evening, has chosen one
that should be fun and
informative... a special tour of
the local museum, on January
11, 7:30 p.m. (this is a change
from their regular meeting
date). Rachel Harnett,
curator of the museum has
agreed for a special open night
for the members and their
friends, in order that they may
take time and browse the full
evening. Great idea!
If you want to join the fun,
call Debbie Sheirbon, Lexing
ton, chairman of the group.
Other study groups in our
county will be doing things of
special interest to their mem
bers, and we will bring you
news of their topics as we
receive them.

from both north and south
Morrow County. The council
will meet at 7:30 p.m. on

pner. The executive council

hoped that all leaders will

JOHN PLANNING 4-H
HORSE WORKSHOP, JAN
UARY 13
4-H Horse members will
want to save Saturday after
noon of Jan. 13 for a full
afternoon of information on
horse health, nutrition,
judging and other things of
interest. Circle that date right
now, and you'll hear more
about the full program from
John Nordheim, 4-H agent, in
the very near future. Every
one interested in horses is
welcome to join the 4-H
members for the program.
BMCC slates
registration
for Jan. 3
Registration at Blue Moun
tain Community College will
begin at 9 a.m. Jan. 3 for
winter term.
Students wishing to register
should go to the Admissions
Office in Morrow Hall to pick
up registration packets. They
will then proceed to the
college union to talk with
advisers.
High pre-registration
figures have been noted,
according to Pat Loughary,
dean of students. "We are
about 100 students ahead of
where we were a year ago,"
he said.
These tentative early regis
tration figures may be high
because pre-registration has
continued extra days in Dec
ember. Students may contact Blue
Mountain about taking classes
by calling the Counseling
Center at 276-1260, ext. 226. All
offices at the college will be
closed Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan.
1 and 2 for the holidays.
The McCrae Activity Center
is closed and will reopen Jan. 8
at 6 a.m.
The BMCC library will be
open Dec. 18 to 22 and Dec. 27
to 29 along with other offices
at the college. Hours are from
8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5
p.m. Regular library hours
will resume Jan. 3.
Soroptimist
story not
complete
Last week the type gremlins
(or maybe the bah humbugs? )
crept into the Soroptimist
story and destroyed three
lines of type, wreaking
general havoc with the last
paragraph. It should have
read as follows:
During a Dec. 14 meeting,
Jerry Healy told Soroptimists
of his experiences as a Peace
Corps volunteer in the Domini
can Republic. On Dec. 16, the
Soroptimists held their annual
Christmas party for members
and spouses at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gray.
The Gazette-Times regrets
the omission.
