Efforts must continue to keep senior citizens independent, productive working members of society. Inflation, and rapid increases in taxes should be carefully monitored because of the fixed income salaries. Taxes Taxes must be fair and equitable. Taxes must continue to be based upon the ability to pay. There is a limit to the amount of taxes one should have to pay, and Bill Bellamy supports the concepts behind Ballot Measures 6 and 11. Crime Crime in the rural areas in on the increase. BUI Bellamy supports Capitol Punishment and he would support mandatory sentencing of criminals, especially for their second crime. People must be assured of a safe place to live. Welfare Welfare, with all its good intentions, has become one of the most abused Federal and State programs. Public assistance should only be given to those who are in need. Bin Bellamy believes those receiving public assistance should be required to work. Public assistance should only be at a minimum level. Working Man The government must stop penalizing the person who works. Too many programs assist people to the point where it is easier to receive public assistance than work. BUI Bellamy believes many of the incentives for a person to value working hard have eroded through many government programs. Education Bill Bellamy believes a basic curriculum includes solid reading, writing, and math courses. Just as important, he feels our young people should be prepared to be productive members of society. English should be at the primary level of education because all levels are dependent upon the student learning the basics early. dip, m ' r H ABOVE LEFT : Bill Bellamy talks with Robert & Katie Henske Bellamy served the Jefferson County Cattlemen's Association, about how inflation and taxes can be monitored to help those Here he dishes up a plate for Andy Morrow.
