Dufur held lone scoreless in
the last quarter, while racing
up six points for themselves,
on an Underhill to Fagerberg
pass.
"Dufur was a big hurdle, "
admitted Coach Meyers. "It's
good getting them out of the
way now. They are good now,
and as they progress, they'll
get even better. We're happy
to win."

Racking up points for the
fledgling Cardinals during the
Thursday afternoon contest
were Donny Taylor, Craig
Hams, Craig Gutierrez, and
Denny Starr.
Starr, the lone quarterback,
connected for six completions, ,
with running back Taylor
scrambling for three of the
junior Card TDs. Taylor also
picked off a Heppner pass
attempt, making a long
yardage return.

also praised Tim Patton for an
outstanding defense effort,
which included numerous key
tackles, a recovered fumble
and good blocking.
"It was a good team effort,"
said Martin. "The kids played
their best all-around game of
the season, both on offense
and defense. Everybody play
ed and played well."

The lone Cardinals are back at it, trying to do in the
fainthearted. The Cardinals grew tired of blasting the
opposition in runaway contests. So they decide to stage
another last -second victory. Just to get the fans' blood up.
The Cardiac Cardinals are 5-0 so far this season, and are
playing good, exciting football.
They play Wheeler in lone Thursday night, and it would
be an excellant opportunity for Heppner fans to go down and
see lone play. I guarantee one of two things: Either they will
wear you out moving the ball up and down the field, or tax
your heart with their last-second tactics.
