Fishermen's Wives share seafood tips with
Morrow
"We're farmers, too, our
harvest is from the sea",
affirmed Mildred Nicholas,
President of Northwest Fish
ermen's Wives. Betty Fowler,
vice president agreed, and
both stressed the point that
farmers, livestockmen, and
fishermen have many things
in common.
The two women presented
the "Food From the Sea"
program at Pendleton and
Heppner, sharing not only
insights to the problems and
challenges of the fishing
industry, but delicious samp
les of their harvest. Many
drylanders now know the
difference between a trawler
and a troller; as well as some
delicious new ways to prepare
seafood, or a wider variety of
seafoods to prepare.
The Fishermen's Wives are
an auxiliary group, similar to
our Cowbelles or Wheat
hearts, dedicated to promot
ing the products that provide
their livelihood. They traveled
to our county, providing all
materials for the program at
their own expense.

4-H Leader Salute
Over the past year, we
tried.to make our 4-H leaders,
their dedication and contri

everyone in the county, and to
express our appreciation for
their efforts. In the coming
year, we will continue this
weekly salute to leaders.
But for right now, during
4-H Week, we salute all our
leaders! Each is making a
worthwhile contribution to the
development of youth in our
county, and their efforts are
appreciated.
