BMCC registration policies
are posted for fall term
Concerned citizens meet on hoopital....
Registration for classes at
Blue Mountain Community
College has been set for
Thursday and Friday, Sept. 21
and 22, at the McCrae Activity
Center.
Centralized registration at
the MAC will allow all people
to register in a more efficient
manner than in the past. Pat
Loughary, dean of students,
pointed out, "We are trying to
save students from running all
across campus trying to
complete registration."
Sophomores and returning
students will register Thurs
day, 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
After that, all students may
register Thursday from 1 p.m.
to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30
a.m. until 4:30 p.m. A special
evening registration is set for
Thursday 7-9 p.m. for all
students.
For part-time students, a
special express system has
been developed. Loughary
noted, "The student- who
wants to sign-up for one or two
classes can get registered and
get out without going through
the longer process."
Registration by mail for
more than 100 evening classes
throughout the Blue Mountain
Community College district
continues for classes which
start the week of Sept.25.
Classes are being offered in
Pendleton, Milton-Freewater,
Hermiston, Athena -Weston,
Stanfield, Umatilla, Board
man, and Heppner.
Several hundred preregis
trations have been received by
mail. Some classes of limited
enrollment have filled but
many courses still remain
open for registration, accord
ing to Larry O'Rourke, adult
education division.
"Every full-time student
needs to see an adviser,"
according to Dean Loughary.
Advisers will be available
during the week of Sept. 18 as
well as during registration
times.
Students are, advised to
make their financial arrange
ments prior to registration
day in order to complete
registration. Questions re
garding financial assistance
can be answered at the
financial aid office 276-1260,
ext. 201 prior to Sept. 20.
All college activity Thurs
day and Friday of registration
will be centered in the MAC
Offices will be closed allowing
college personnel to be at
registration.

to the County Court.
"The health care district is
entirely too broad, with undiv
ided authority," said Mrs.
Hager, adding that she
thought the "hospital will be a
very small item in the
county-wide district."
There was also discussion
about the lOSS of long-time "
employees at the hospital. One
former hospital employee in
the audience stated that 18
persons have quit their jobs at
the hospital since May.
"We don't have any inten
tion of dealing with employees
problems, but it is of concern
to us why the employees
many cf whom have been
there for 10 years or longer
are quitting," said Mrs. Ha
ger. The prime purpose of the
group, according to Mrs.
Hager, will be to attend and
observe all hospital hoard and
county court meetings. About
six members of the audience
volunteered ' to; cover the
meetings.
