County 4-H9er display hore sense at annual show
Youthful horsemen from
across Morrow County con
verged at the fairgrounds in
Heppner Sunday to take part
in the county 4-H Horse Show,
held in conjunction with the
Morrow County Fair.
Events included showman
ship, western equitation, colt
ground training, English equi
tation, and hunt seat over
fences competition.
All-around champion in
showmanship was Lori Witt of
Irrigon, with Krynn Robinson
of Heppner taking reserve
champion honors. Lori and
Krynn also took champion and
reserve champion in their
senior showmanship division,
followed by Marie Van
Schoiack of Heppner.
Nancy Miller of Heppner
took championship honors in
the intermediate showman
ship category, with Lexing
ton's Ann Lindsay winning the
reserve champion award.
Blue ribbons were awarded to
Annette Wilgers and Tara
Mahoney of Heppner and
Angie Evans of Irrigon, with
Dawn Key of Hermiston
earning a red ribbon.
In the beginners' showman
ship category, the champion
was Alex Lindsay of Lexing
ton, and reserve champion
was Andrea Ball of Heppner.
A blue ribbon was awarded
Bobbett Angel of Heppner.
Jody Padberg of Lexington
won the championship in the
junior showmanship category,
with Kathy Lindsay of Lexing
ton taking reserve champion.
Blue ribbons were awarded
Shelly Stroeber, Trisha Ma
honey, Pat Schwarz, all of
Heppner, Denise Key of Her
miston, and Ann Marie Evans
of Irrigon, with a red ribbon
going to Bridget
Greenup of Heppner.
In the western equitation
division, the beginners' cate
gory championship was won
by Kristi Booth, with Alex
Lindsay taking reserve cham
pion honors. Andrea Ball won
a blue ribbon, and Bobbette
Angel won a red ribbon.
In the junior western equita
tion class, Kathy Lindsay was
champion, with fellow Lexing
ton resident Jody Padberg
taking reserve. Blue ribbons
were awarded Trisha Ma
honey, Pat Schwarz and
Bridget Greenup, all of Hepp
ner, and Ann Marie Evans of
Irrigon. A red ribbon was
awarded Denise Key.

diate category, with Annette
Wilgers of Heppner taking
reserve champion honors.
Blue ribbons went to Ann
Lindsay and Dawn Key.
In the senior category,

tation contest, with red rib
bons going to Andrea Ball,

Mahoney. For seniors in the
same contest, Lori Witt was
champion and Krynn Robin
son reserve champ. " Blue
ribbons went to Annette Wil
gers, Ann Van Schoiack,
Nancy Miller, and Ann Lind
say. In the hunt seat competition,
which included a series of
jumps over obstacles and
fences, Krynn Robinson was
champion and Ann Van
Schoiack reserve champ.

and Kathy Lindsay.
Krynn Robinson was cham
pion and Lori Witt reserve
champion in the all-around
English style competition.
In the trail horse contest for
beginners and juniors, Denise
Kay was champion, with red
ribbons going to Andrea Ball,
Jody Padberg, Kathy Lind
say, Bridget Greenup, Kristi
Booth, Trisha Mahoney and
Pat Schwarz.
For intermediates and sen
iors in the trail horse class,
Annette Wilgers was cham
pion and Lori Witt reserve
champion. Krynn Robinson
won a blue ribbon and Ann
Lindsay a red.
