POLICE BLOTTER
Two members of a six-piece
band that played for lone High
School's prom night festivities
last weekend were arrested
early Sunday morning on the
school parking lot on charges
of possessing marijuana.
Facing misdemeanor
charge for criminal activity in
drugs, possessing less than
one ounce of marijuana, are
Richard Dale Johnson, 22, and
Stephen Paul Filer, 19, both of
Boise.
The arrests were made by
Morrow County Sheriff's de
puties. Hearings for the Boise pair
were scheduled for May 15.

A Silver Creek, Wash., man
pleaded guilty Monday in
Morrow County Justice Court
to charges of driving under the
influence of intoxicants and

offenses.
Meyer was apprehended
May 5 near Irrigon by Morrow
County Sheriff's deputies.
CIRCUIT COURT
A 19-year-old Irrigon wo
man was slightly injured May
5, when the motorcycle she
was operating struck a trailer
being towed by a pickup on
Hwy. 730, one mile west of
Irrigon.
Caroline Ballard was repor
tedly knocked temporarily
unconscious in the collision,
but refused treatment when
an ambulance arrived at the
scene.

made pne flight to Pioneer
Memorial Hospital last week,
dropping off a blue-wrapped
baby package.
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ernest
Johnson, Condon, became the
proud parents of a son named
Monty Wade at 12:46 p.m. on
Wednesday, May 3. He
weighed in at 7 pounds 4
ounces.
Grandparents include Mr.
and Mrs. Hollis Dill and Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Johnson, all of
Condon. Monty also has one
great-grandmother, Florence
Clark of Oregon City, and one
great-great-grandmother, Lil
la M. Gross of Portland.
Twenty-three Heppner High
School students, members of
Dale Conklin's Current Events
class, attended and partici
pated in discussion at the
Morrow County Court meeting
on Wednesday, May 10, to
learn more about county
government operation.
The Court discussed prob
lems arising from several
requests from persons want
ing to commute to job sites
from permanent camps set up
in county-operated Anson
Wright and Cutsforth Parks,
because of the present housing
shortage. The Court decided
that such residency violated
the purpose of the parks which
are designated for recrea
tional use only.
Three representatives of the
Oregon Department ofTrans
portation met with the Court
and Roadmaster Doc Sherer
concerning county responsibi
lity on the .4 mile Alpine-Nel-
son section of the Bombing
Range Road. It was decided
the state will prepare the road
for oiling and priming, while

Executive session. He will
meet with union negotiators in
Portland on May 22 to work
out a contract for Sheriff's

In other action, the Court
approved a $17,000 with trade
in bid from Morrow County
Grain Growers for a new tilt
trailer to be used for hauling
heavy equipment.
