their annual District Recogni
tion Day. Hostesses for meet
ing were members of the
TOPS No. 778 Arlington Club.
The district includes all of
Wheeler, Morrow and Gilliam
Counties. There are six TOPS
Clubs in the district. Members
from five clubs were present
at the DRD meet.
Area Kaptain Betty Kirby,
Fossil, opened the meeting
with the salute to the flag
followed by the TOPS pledge
and Fellowship song. Mrs.
Kirby gave a short welcoming
address before introducing the
members of each chapter. The
winners of special honors at
the local chapter level were
announced. Alumni KOPS and
KOPS in waiting were intro
duced. The high point of the
meeting was the presentation
of the District's division win
ners and our Queen for 1977.
The winners were: Division
3 First place Linda Breiden
bach, No. 484 Lexington;
Division 4 First place, Jenni
fer Breeden, No. 484 Lexing
ton ; Second, Jackie Geer, No.
552 Fossil; Alternate, Elsie
Bailey, No. 778 Arlington;
Divison 5 First place, Billie
Lou Nickelsen, No. 733 Kin
zua; Second, Clara Jenkins,
No. 719 Spray; Alternate,
Deloris Luther, No. 552 Fossil.
Margaret Misener, No. 552
Fossil, was crowned Queen
and Billie Lou Nickelsen, No.
733 Kinzua, was selected
runner up to the Queen.
Alternate was Cindi Weaser,
No. 733 Kinzua.
The Traveling Plaque for
the club with the largest
average weight lost per mem
ber was won by the Arlington
TOPS with an averagle loss of
3.59 pounds per member in
1977.

Davis, LaGrande, spoke to the
meeting and answered ques
tions from the floor to con
clude the program.

Barbara Pike
Raymond and Deena Reid,
Dana and Lana went to
Heppner Saturday where they
were joined by Deena's sister
Shirley Peterson and Mark.
The entire group spent the day
working on the home pur
chased by the Reids in
Heppner. The family spent the
night at the Peterson home in
Hermiston, returning to Hepp
ner Sunday to do some more
painting and fixing-up.
Ray and Joyce Cody spent
Thursday and Friday visiting
relatives and seeing the coun
try around the LaGrande and
Baker areas. The Kinzua
couple returned home by way
of John Day.
Brian Say of Prineville
drove Rita and Cindy Bowman
home Wednesday. Rita and
Cindy had been staying in
Prineville with Rita's older
daughter, Sara, while Cindy
recovered from having her
tonsils removed. Brian spent
most of Thursday in Kinzua
before returning to Prineville.
Evelyn Gordon was in
Kinzua several days last week
visiting with her daughter Jill
Benson and family. Mrs.
Gordon is now back home in
Portland after a long stay with
her mother in Wisconsin.
Stan Benson is back in the
pain palace again. He entered
Good Samaritan Hospital in
Portland last Monday and had
bone grafting on Tuesday.
Hope he gets home soon to
enjoy the fishing and mush
rooming he likes so much.
