HOLOCAUST
One of history's most monstrous
crimes the systematic campaign by
the Nazis to murder millions of
people will be dramatized in the
massive special 'Holocaust,' to begin
its run of four consecutive nights on
NBC-TV Sunday, April 16.
Gerald Green scripted this fact
based original dramatization, which
was filmed entirely on location in
Europe.
The premiere installment, entitled
'The Gathering Darkness,' is set in
1935 Berlin, as young Jewish artist
Karl Weiss (James Woods), the son of
a prosperous physician (Fritz
Weaver), weds the Catholic Inga
Helms (Meryl Streep) in the shadow
of a dim future which will forbid such
intermarriages in Germany. Else
where, an unemployed lawyer (Mi
chael Moriarty), whose family have
been patients of Or. Weiss, is
persuaded to apply for a job with the
SS.
The lawyer warns Dr. Weiss to
leave Germany with his family but the
doctor s wife (Kosemary Harris,
pictured with Weaver) adamantly
reruses 10 leave ner country.
