as a week-end visitor her
sister and husband, Mr. and
Mrs. Quentin Lathrop of
Wallowa. I Mrs. Irvin Rauch,
Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Jones, and
Liz Curtis were Portland
business visitors last week
where the ladies attended the
Oregon Fairs Convention at
the Thunderbird Inn in Jant
zen Beach. The purpose of the
meeting was to review the
legislature's actions concern
ing fairs, compare premium
books, discuss admissions and
be entertained with various
talent agencies, who have
talents to let for county fairs.
As in all things, talent group
finances have gone up in price
which makes them more
expensive for the local fairs.
Admission prices go from
$1.50 daily to 3.00 daily and
many have a pass price for all
the days of the fair.
An interesting session inclu
ded the discussion on the
valuation of the fairs, the right
to appeal for higher rating,
etc ; which fairs are allowed to
do.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
These meetings are interest
ing as well as instructive for
the delegates able to attend.
The Fair committee is already
working on plans for next
year's entertainment for
Family Fun night and it is
hoped something will be
decided upon soon so that the
advertising can start. The
group hopes to get name
entertainment for the 1978
Fair.

Christmas Again
Once again comes Christmas day
May those chimes ring clear and free
May young carolers coma to me.
Let my tree be of piney wood
That scents the room so good.
May my Christmas a bit old fashioned be
Perhaps, a bit like me.
May the gifts be made with loving care
The kind we love to share.
For the children, add a toy or two
Something bright and modern and new.
Let families gather round
Let joy and laughter be the Christmas sound.
'Though this day fades away,
May the peace of Christmas forever stay.'

The merriest
of holidays...
from First National Bank
of Oregon.
Holiday spirit . . . it's in the air, on our minds
and close to all of our hearts. It's a time
for sharing and giving. Time for family, for
seeing friends and renewing acquaintances.
A time for peace, reflection and joy.
Holidays . . . they really are a special time
of year. That's why this year, just like every
year for well over 100 years now, the folks
at First National have chosen this partic
ular time, holiday time, to extend their
personal thanks and greetings to the people
of Oregon. We'd like to tell you how much
we appreciate knowing you, and how
proud we are to be able to serve you.
And so, in keeping with that holiday
tradition, your friends and neighbors at
First National wish you health, happi
ness and prosperity in the year ahead.
