' ' ' ""' "-'"I i H i 1 i i , V 4 J i Mr. and Mrs. Gary George and family spent Thanksgiv ing at the home of Mrs. Helen McCabe and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Peck were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan. The lone United Church of Christ Jr. High Youth Group spent last weekend in Port land and Vancouver, Wash. The young people had earned the money through projects for the trip. They left early Saturday morning and on arriving in Portland attended the "Star of Bethlehem" program at OMSI. Saturday evening they at tended the Ice Capades, stay ing over night at the First Congregational Church in Vancouver, Wash., and also attended the church services Sunday morning. Before ser vices they went on a tour of Fort Vancouver. Those going to Portland were Roger Chil ders, Jim Jepson, Ann and John Murray, Cathy Cheney, Jeff Hams, Mary Kincaid, Anita Palmer, Kris Pettyjohn, Corby Sullivan, Sandy Thomp son, Chris Reitmann, Diann Morter, and Sharon Crowell. They were accompanied by their leaders, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Nelson, and Mr. and Mrs. Eric Anderson. Others joining the group were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. John Jepson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Crowell, Laurie and Marylin Childers, Gordan White, and Diana Kincaid. Mrs. Anderson's mother, Mrs. Antionette Agerter of Vancouver joined them at the Ice Capades. ' As a note of interest the First Congregational Church at Vancouver is the Church that Rev. Bill Graham was Minister to before coming to lone. -., john Sr. spent Thursday until Saturday in Portland. About 80 people attended the Pomona and all Granges in the county installation held last Sunday at the Willows Grange Hall. A team from Umatilla County, under the direction of Morton Wolverton of Stanfield installed the 0 Irrigon Francis Rose The Irrigon Assembly of God will present a Christmas program Sunday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. The theme of the program is "Shepherds Led the Way" and will be presen ted in narration, pantomime and song. On Christmas Sunday morn ing, the young people's choir and orchestra will sing and play Christmas carols. Pastor Allen Gordanier ex tends a welcome to all. Hermiston officers. After the installation refreshments were served in the basement, which was decorated in a Christmas theme. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Petty john Sr. spent Monday, Dec. 12, at Columbia Center where they met Rev. and Mrs. Bill Arthur, who recently moved to Ritzville, Wash. Ken Lemley and Louise Schmidt were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Peterson, Monday evening Dec. 12. The lone City TV Co-op held a meeting Monday evening, Dec. 12 at the lone High School Library. The purpose of the meeting was to get opinions on the new TV line before final acceptance. Three new sta tions have been added. Chan nel 7 is channel 10 out of Portland and is the education al channel ; 9 is channel 2 out of Portland, and 11 is channel 6 out of Portland. The Rainbow Girls Christ mas party will be held Monday, Dec. 19, at the Masonic Hall. The Rainbow meeting will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the party which the parents are invited to attend. Each girl is to bring cookies and a number for the program. The lone School Christmas program will be held Dec. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the cafetorium. Along with the elementary program the 5th and 6th grade band, and the Jr-hi and High School combined bands will perform, along with the High School chorus. Santa will make an appearance with his treats. School will be dismis sed at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and will resume on January 2, 1978. The United Church of Christ Christmas program will be held Dec. 18 at 5 p.m. after which there will be a potluck supper. Following the supper, a truck will be provided for those who wish to go caroling. The candle-light com munion service will be held Saturday, Dec. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the church. news Wilson 922-3352 interest in Costa Rica for a number of years. Stephens and his son, Richard, and Marco Zeledon of Costa Rica were recent visitors at the home of Stephens' mother, Mary Stephens, in Irrigon. Richard has been to Costa Rica three times as an exchange student. Zeledon was an exchange student from Costa Rica, the first time they met and lived with the Joe Stephens family.
