Tacky the clown doesn't
need to say much to delight
children. Just the sight of his
red nose, green pants, pink
printed coat, two inch
eyelashes and enormous bow
tie spelling T-A-Cf-K-Y from
shoulder to shoulder and the
kids know they are in for a
treat.
Tacky can be found at the
Morrow County Fair in Hep
pner on August 23-25 and will
probably be surrounded by
children as he forms balloon
animals or hats with a few deft
twists of his white gloved
hands, or just answers their
questions or talks to them.
The "Fun Show" that Tacky
presents is just that, fun for
all, as he invites children from
the audience to become a part
of the show, which thrills the
youngsters and draws chuck
les from the older folk who sit
through his shows just as
happily as the children.
Emerson spends a long
summer on the road traveling
fairs and says he loves
working with kids. Home he
says, "is wherever I'm ,
performing."
Along with performing as
Tacky the clown, Emerson
also has the various games
that are at the fair, so don't be
Tacky's big day for youngsters during
the Fair is Thursday. There will be a
whole afternoon of fun starting with the
pet show at 11:30. See page 22 of this
section for rules on entering Tacky's
coloring contest.
Before becoming Tacky the
clown, Larry Emerson Start
ed in show business at the age
of 12 as a burlesque comic. He
went on to a nightclub act. He
became a producer and book
ing agent and when a clown he
had booked failed to appear,
Emerson did the act for him.
He liked clowning so well that
he's been doing it now for 22
years.

Tacky also has a line of
TackyToys on the market that
are fast becoming popular
household items. So with all
those things to keep him busy,
Tacky is a fine fellow to have
around the Morrow County
Fair.
4H work
day set
Saturday
All 4-H leaders and parents
are reminded there will be a
4-H work day at the fair
grounds, Saturday, August 20,
to put the final touches on both
the barns and the 4-H Annex.
Home Ec leaders are asked to
bring anything they have that
can be used to decorate the
Annex.
Work will start about 9 a.m.,
so bring your lunch. ..the
coffee pot will be on early.
