Cull blocks
Eastern Oregon white fir
comprises most cull blocks we
encounter. 26 per cent of all
white fir in our yard is of this
type or worse.
Until now, we had nowhere
to go with these cull blocks.
Our new block splitter is
hydraulic and a real feature is
the movable grid. It is built by

Chip system
Installed a year and a half
ago, our chip system was a big
stroke for us. A 30 unit
bin, sporting a live bottom
outfeed and a 30 unit per hour
screen, adequately handles all
of our chips from the lily pad
chipper, the Adco-West Stud
Machine, three lathes, and the
core chipper. With this sys
tem, Kinzua has all but elimi
nated any downtime in the
greenend due to any chip
system.
Waste water use
Our steam vats are not
actually steam any longer. We
have converted them to hot
water.
We have a 6" header with a
4" line down the center of each
