Heppner American Legion
Post No. 87 and Auxiliary will
host a District 6 meeting
Sunday, Mar. 13, at 1 p.m. at
the Legion Hall.
Saturday, Mar. 12, will be a
clean-up day, starting at 10
a.m. Bring a sack lunch.
All members are urged to
come and help out.
Gaustad
assigned
Army Private Joseph L.
Gaustad, 17, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph P. Gaustad, lone,
Ore., recently was assigned to
the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft.
Hood, Texas.
An armor crewman in Com
pany A, 1st Battalion of the
division's 7th Cavalry, Pvt.
Gaustad entered the Army
last October.

in "B" state tourney
with Barbara Pike
This week the news is all of
the State Basketball Tourna
ment at Baker. Many local
people were in Baker to see
our girls take third at the "B"
level. The sportsmanship
award was well deserved by
the girls. I know I'm proud of
everyone of them and I'm sure
I'm not alone.

honored at a bridal shower
Mar. 3 at the home of Annie
Schwarz in Heppner. Hostes

and Annie Schwarz.

Sue Ellen McLean and Iva Lou
McDaniel.

Port sets Fri. meet
The Port of Morrow will
hold a regular meeting this
Friday, Mar. 11, at 2 p.m. at
offices in Boardman. The
meeting date this Friday
represents a change due to
budget advertising require
ments. The agenda for the meeting
will include a consideration of
on
a supplemental budget
sewer disposal operation.
Also to be considered are a
pollution bonding agreement,
land values per appraisal,
bonding coupon destruction,
budget transfer resolutions,
auditor consideration, a re
port on water tank recovery
and bond consultant cancellation.

The Camp Five Women's
Club met at the Camp Five
Hall on Mar. 2. The meeting
was chaired by President
Terry Todd with Betty Mur
dock as the monthly hostess.
The six members present
discussed the club's annual
dinner to be held Mar. 26. It
was noted that the rules
governing the scholarship
given to a graduating senior
by the Women's Club have
been posted at the high school.
The members were reminded
of the monthly craft meeting
. to be held Mar. 9 at the hall.
The ladies closed their
meeting with refreshments in
keeping with the decorations
honoring St. Patrick's Day.
CAMP FIVE WOMEN
HAVE PARTY
A card party with a little
different slant was held Mar. 5
at the Camp Five Hall. Prizes
at the card party sponsored by
the Camp Five Women's Club
were not given for the usual
high and low scores. Instead,
prizes went to third high and
third low. Winners of the Third
High prize were Mike Todd
and Karen Cossitt. Ken and
Wanda Dunlap were the win
ners of the Third Low prize.
Pinochle winners were Bob
and Louella Taylor. Bob
Taylor was also the winner of
the door prize.
The twenty-six players in
attendance were treated to re
freshments of green-colored
salad, hot bread, and other
salads to help carry out the St.
Patrick's Day theme of the
party.
The Women's Club will
sponsor another card party on
Apr. 9. This party, with Carol
Norris and Betty Murdock as
hostesses, will have an Easter
