Framing has been completed on the new Morrow County
Offices building at Irrigon and occupancy is expected about
March 1. The new office building is located at the corner of
North Main and Second Street.

There were only two flag
days this January, and most of
us missed observing them.
Legal public holidays and
other special days when flags
should be displayed can fall in
11 different months only
August apparently never has a
flag day in the United States.
There are about eight na
New Irrigon county
offices eye March opening
The framing on the new
Morrow County office building
at Irrigon is completed and
the building should be ready
for occupancy by Mar. 1.
The new structure will in
clude four offices besides the
conference room and court
room. The 5th District Justice
of the Peace will occupy the
front office. Ernest Jorgensen
holds this position at this time.
The remaining three offices
will be occupied by various
county services including
Planning Director, Children's
Services and Extension ser
vices. Previously, county services
at Irrigon were available
Monday through Friday with
different services represented

Jim and Evalou Carey, of
the Umatilla County Sheriff's
Department, will present
three training sessions on
"self -protection" for Home
Extension study group leader
teachers. The Morrow County training
session will be Tuesday, Mar.
I, 7:30 p.m., at the A C.
Houghton School, Irrigon.
Extension Home Economist
Molly Saul said that all study
groups in Morrow County will
present this topic at March
meetings.

herty said Jones will be
returned to Heppner this week
to answer to a charge of first
degree forgery.
Jones has been held in jail in
Pendleton in lieu of $1,005
bond on a charge of theft in the
second degree by deception.
The arrest was made in
connection with an investi
gation of worthless checks
passed in both Morrow and
Umatilla counties.
First degree forgery carries
a maximum penalty of five
years and $2,500.

flag days as do all nations. In
Heppner in years past, the
Irish flag has been displayed
on St. Patrick's Day, Mar, 17.
There has been talk about re
viving this display in honor of
the Irish pioneers who settled
here and whose many families
continue to make up an
important part of the county's
population.
