Nov. 1 marked the end of the
ninth month of the Kinzua
Corporation Safety Contest at
Heppner, Kinzua and Eastern
Oregon Logging. Each mem
ber on the designated safety
teams received $40.00 in cash
with IS bonus paid to the
team captains. In addition to
the cash prizes, each team
held a , drawing with the
winner having a choice of an
automatic dishwasher or a
microwave oven.

"We're looking for steady
Improvement. If we get that,
well, that's all we can ask,"
said Martha Doherty, lone
Cardinal head girls basketball
coach.
Doherty heads into the pre
season with a roster of 16 girls.
She hasn't selected a varsity
yet and won't till today. Her
Card girls face Mt. Vernon
Saturday at 4:30 there.
The girls will work out of a
1-3 1 offense and man-to man
defense, with a switch to a
zone when necessary.
Doherty said she would rely
on aggressiveness since the
Cards have little height or
speed. "Aggression," she
said, "we'll have to fight for
everything we can get."

mental drills. "If that's any
