The Willows Grange will
hold a bazaar and card party
Saturday, Nov. 27th. There
will be a small charge for the
card party. The bazaar will
start at 7:30 p.m., followed by
a card party at 8:00 p.m. Open
to the public.
lone Topic Club met on Nov.
17th at the home of Mrs. John
Proudfoot, with Mrs. Dave
Baker assisting. The drawing
was held for the raffle articles
displayed in Charles O'Con
nor's window, with the West
Bend Electric Frypan going to
Mrs. Kenneth Smouse; the
Hamilton Beach Blender to
Mrs. Bob Rietmann; and the
Tupperware cake carrier to
Ann Machado. $307.50 was
realized for the benefit of the
lone Public Library from this
project.
Mrs. Proudfoot reviewed
the autobiography, "My Life"
by Golda Meir. This is Mrs.
Mcir's long-awaited personal
and moving story of her life.
For the first time, we ex
perience In her own words how
it happened that this amazing
woman, born in Russia and
brought up In Milwaukee,
became the Prime Minister of
Israel and one of C.i political
giants of our time. She de
scribes her political career cs

success
The cast was in a mild state
of shock when the curtain rose
on the first act of "Charley's
Aunt." But by the time the
curtain fell on the third act,
the Heppner High School
thespians were well seasoned
and the audience left the
school knowing they had been
entertained for 2 hours.
The stage crews are always
unseen, but without their sup
port, the play could not be.
Friday night, the thespians
played to a full house and
almost to the same on Satur
day night.
With all the problems that
the cast and production crew
may have had during re
hearsals, Friday and Satur
day night should have been the
rewards they needed to begin
a new play for this spring.
It was a play well done.

motored to Portland a week
ago Saturday and, returning
home with them for week's
stay was their grandson, Jack
Akers, from Gresham. Last
Saturday, they met his father,
Mr. Bob Akers, In The Dalles,
who took Jack home.

verson left Tuesday for Port
land to take Brent and Rodney
Portschy back home. On
Tuesday, they will enjoy an
early Thanksgiving dinner at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Wiegand. Joining them will be

served to all high school boys
and the men faculty members
on Tuesday, Nov. 9th, at the
Masonic Hall. This is an
annual affair of the Masons.

bert Ekstrom, Sr., and Mrs.
Larry Prock, members of the
Eastern Star. Rainbow girls,
who served, were Lisa Martin,

talk on the long lasting bene
fits and merits of partici
pating in competitive sports.

football, and the other ex

Mrs. Doris Gollyhorn and
Mrs. Laura Holta recently
returned from a week's trip to
Denver, CO. Doris visited with
Mrs. Jerry House and Laura
spent the time with friends
who used to live at Hermiston.
They enjoyed their plane
rides, and also spent a great
deal of time visiting historical
places in and near Denver.
On Monday, Nov. 8th, Mrs.
Marion Palmer entertained
with a birthday party in honor
of Mrs. Helen Pettyjohn.

Monday and will spend
