The Oregon State Game Commission is very serious about
picking up fresh kill finds on cow elk. One cow was reported to
them as a fresh kill and within three hours a helicopter was
sighted at the spot picking up the cow. Some institution will have
fresh meat and no spoiled meat.
Jeane and Paul Hanson's weekend was a pleasant one. First,
Jeanne's doctor let Jeannie come home for a few days, as her
son, Frank Lovgren, had a ten day leave. Frank was married
recently, so with him was his wife, and her children. The West of
Willow was the scene of turkey dinner for family and friends.
Then, at the Hansons' house, a family reunion and wedding
reception was held with a wedding cake and champagne being
served.
Last Thursday night, Joyce Winters' birthday was celebrated
with a party given to her by husband Herman and daughter
Heather. Helping her celebrate the "39th" was Gladys Beckett,
Dennis and Ann Doherty, Susie Cooper, Kathlene Healy, Bud
and Harriet Batty, Coetta DeBraal and Archie Munkers.
We have a staff of "women only" at the G-T this week. Wil, our
news editor, is on vacation, with Lavon Starr taking his place.
That means Sharlene Arends, Eileen Sahng, Justine
Weatherford, Janene Searle, and yours truly say, "We can do
it."
Rose and Gerald Bergstrom were waiting for their turf to
arrive for the "finished" touch on their new double wide mobile
country home, when we went a "visitin"' recently. No TV and
their son, Mike, doesn't seem to object. Rose served dinner in
their beautiful dining room and then we headed back to town
(some twenty miles), leaving our ex-city friends behind.
Leonard L. Gilson, Portland, a civil engineer with the Soil
Conservation Service, spent some time here last week. He Uie

He spent Thursday evening at the library reading about Morrow
County.
Surely you have noticed that driftwood monster that decorates
the ground space in front of the Bank of Eastern Oregon. It is
sort of a wooden Loch Ness beast. We wonder if Gene Pierce and
his co-workers have given it a name? Do they feed it money?
Next week everyone should enjoy "Charley's Aunt." Play
producing is a fine experience for young people, but sometimes
they feel discouraged when their efforts are not supported by the
community.
This week more children than usual will be at home and round
about the community because of the school conference days and
the Armistice holiday.
