the fairgrounds, will include a
dinner at 6:30 p.m., featuring
roasts from a grand champion
beef MCGG bought at the FFA
and 4-H auction.
Beef from the prize animal
will be given as door prizes,
also. The normal business
meeting will include election

An estimated 64,000 hunters will invade Eastern Oregon
this winter for elk season, slated from Saturday to November
14.
Some rigs have already started to filter through Heppner
with many, many more expected by opening day and this
weekend.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said that
about 10,000 elk will be harvested from the Blue Mountains.
Success, along with the elk herds, has increased slowly but
surely over the last few years.

portions of five counties. The
members now have an invest
ment of $8,135,368.54 in pro
viding themselves with elec
tric service. The fiscal year
sales were $1,373,778.27 and
there were margins of
$167,887.49.
Kwh purchases were
120,018,000 kwhs for the past
fiscal year compared to
105,584,000 kwhs the previous
year. The increase in kwh
purchases from BPA was the
largest ever for the coopera
tive. There was 2200 horsepower
of new irrigation load added
the past year. Large commer
cial sales increased by more
than 7.5 million kwhs. Most all
new home and mobile home
installations had electric heat
ing as the type of heat
installation. There were many
conversions to electric heat

The eyes of fashion will be
focused on Boardman this fall
when the Make It Yourself
With Wool district contest is
presented there on Saturday,
October 30. The annual con
test, which attracts large
numbers of contestants from
this area, is sponsored by the
Women's Auxiliary to the v
National Wool Growers As
sociation. Co-chairmen for
this district are Carlene West,
lone, and Dorris Doherty,
Pilot Rock.
Valuable prizes are award
ed at all levels of competition,
with the national winner re
ceiving a fifteen day expense
paid trip to Mexico, as well as
other prizes. Winner of this
district senior division will
compete at the state compe
tition at Portland's Thunder
bird Inn on December 1 and 2.

Feed Association.
Pennell 's talk will be based
on a recent foreign agri-business
tour of the Soviet Union.
