FFA sets
A total of 55 Heppner High
School Future Farmers of
America will be up for auction
October 14 in the beginning of
the club's first annual FFA
Slave Auction.
According to Doug Anso
tegui, chairman and Hal
Whitaker, advisor for the HHS
group, the auction will include
44 boys and 11 girls. Bidders
will pay the FFA for one full
day, eight hours, of work from
the student they purchase.
This work can be of any sort
from washing windows to
bucking bales.
Funds raised by the auction
will be used by the chapter for
activities such as state and
national conventions, ban
quets, state fairs and judging

Escape
injury
Three Boardman men es
caped serious injury Monday
night in a one car roll over ac
cident on the Bombing Range
road.
Donald Delbert Kandle, 22,
driver of the 1969 Triumph
Roadster, and passengers
Michael James Lesich, 22, and
Scott Edward Connor, 20, es
caped with cuts and bruises.
According to Oregon State
Police, the car was north
bound on the Bombing Range
road about two and a half
miles south of I80N. Kandle
apparently lost control and the
car went into a skid, then
rolled over and came to rest
on its top.
All three were transported
to Good Shepherd Hospital by
an unknown motorist. The
three were treated for cuts
and bruises.
Kandle was cited for care
less driving.
Suicide
David Lee Cot, 22, Heppner.
was the victim of apparent
suicide early Saturday morn
ing at his residence at Thorpe
Apartments.
Cos. a native of Heppner,
shot himself with a 30 0 rifle,
according to Morrow County
District Attorney Dennis Do
herty who said he was 'ab
solutely satisfied that it was a
suicide."
