Parade
despite
band,
Entries are still rolling in,
despite the lack of a band, for
the Morrow County Fair and
Rodeo Parade Saturday.
The one and one-half mile,
parade through the downtown
area of Heppner and on
through towards the court
Parade 9
house and fair grounds should
prove to be one of the biggest
and best parades ever.
Highlighting the parade will
be the Heppner-Morrow Coun
ty Chamber of Commerce
float, with the theme "We've
Come a Long Way."
Also, some out-of-town
guests, including Baker Live
stock Auction's 20 mule team,
the Eastern Oregon Historical
Auto Club and Pendleton's
Main Street Cowboys will en
hance the streets Saturday
morning.
The parade is slated to start
at 9 a.m. from N. Main near
Pettyjohns Supply. It will
come up Main Street and take
a left on Court Street. Some
floats will go on to the fair
grounds and others will turn
left again at the grade school
and end up their tour.

Morrow County residents. The
riding group has picked up top
hardware at every event
they've ridden in this year.

Team will be there from
Elgin. Salads and des

meats and drinks will be

the grassy area near the
Snack Shack.
Court honored
by rodeo board
The 1976 Fair and Rodeo
Queen Patricia Van Schoiack,
joined her parents, Bob and
Katie Van Schoiack as they
hosted a pre-rodeo party,
Saturday night.
The Heppner Elks Lodge,
was the scene of the buffet
dinner given for the court and
rodeo board members and
their wives.

and Francine Evans, Princess
Kimee with Ron and Lynn
Haguewood, Princess Bonnie
with Bob and Marilyn Schiller
and Princess Janice with Carl
and Betty Spaulding enhanced
the evening dinner.

Donna Palmer, Shawns Seitz,
and Kathleen Van Schoiack.
Court on radio
Friday, Aug. 13, the Morrow
County Fair and Rodeo Court
traveled to Pendleton and
were guests at the KUMA
coffee hour. The girls were
introduced on the air and out
lined the busy fair and rodeo
week for radio listeners.
Later in the day, the court
made spot tape commercials
at radio station KT1X. Station
manager Marilyn Reeves hos
ted a luncheon at Indian Hills
for the queen and court, along
with chaperone Darlene Hos
kens and Lee Palmer.
This Thursday, the girls,
Queen Patricia, and Prin
Kodleo

Palmer and Tony and Fay
Seltx also attended.

and Robert Hoskens, June
McClean, Jane Bailey and
Martha Van Schoiack, the
queen's grandmother, also
were present.
A special guest at the party
was LaWanda Lindsey, country-western
recording artist.
She also was the featured en
tertainment to a sell out crowd
for the court dance following
the dinner.
This was the last dance
leading up to the rodeo and
was "special to the girls" si a
large crowd came to dance
and enjoy LaWanda Lindsay's
performance.

KOHU radio in Hermiston at 9
a.m. Following interviews,
they go back to Pendleton as
luncheon guests of the Lions
club.
Band?
A band rehearsal for
the rodeo parade has
been set for Monday,
Aug. 23. 7 p.m. at the
high school band room.
Anyone who plays an
instrument is urged to
attend.
